Ice Cream Flavor Inpired Rice Milk Smoothies

Pele Omori
Beat the heat this summer by trying rice milk in an icy and decadent smoothie without artery clogging saturated fats and cholesterol--the dairy free way of course.

1. The creamsicle

An inspiration of the beloved childhood creamsicle with an irresistable tart orange taste mellowed by a creamy vanilla interior. Here, the cream is replaced with rice milk, a much healthier alternative. You can use frozen juice concentrate, orange sorbet, or freeze your own orange juice in ice cube trays for this recipe. The frozen juice concentrate will produce a stronger orange flavor.

2 cups rice milk (plain or vanilla)
1 cup of orange sorbet or 3/4 cups frozen orange juice concentrate or 1 cup frozen orange juice ice cubes.
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Blend everything until smooth. To make things a bit more luxurious, add a scoop of vanilla flavored Rice Dream to the mix.

2. Peaches n cream

When peaches are at their best in August, all it needs is a little Rice Dream.

2 cups vanilla Rice Dream
1 cup fresh, frozen peeled peaches
1 frozen banana
optional scoop of Rice Dream ice cream.

Blend till smooth.

3. Mango lime

Sip this alongside a spicy meal, or on it's own in a salt rimmed margarita cup.

2 cups rice milk (plain or vanilla)
1 cup frozen, chopped and peeled mango
a generous squeeze of fresh lime juice

Blend everything until smooth. Garnish with a slice of lime if you like.

4. The affogato

This is a sinful drink made of strong espresso and creamy rice ice cream.

1 cup Rice Dream ice cream (chocolateor vanilla work nicely)
2 shots or more strong espresso
1/2 cup rice milk

Whizz everything till smooth and be sure to enjoy this with a biscotti on the side for dunking.
