Ice Cream Party Games

July is National Ice Cream Month

Angela W. La Fon

July is National Ice Cream month and a fun time for an old fashioned ice cream social or cool ice cream party. The menu for an ice cream party is easy. Serve several flavors of ice cream and have several toppings on hand. Ice cream party games can add to the fun. Whether it's a game of luck, licking or laughter, ice cream party games are sweet, fat free addition to any ice cream party.

Peter Piper picked pretty party prizes.

Before we look at ice cream party game ideas, let's look at ice cream party prizes. If you are playing a variety of games, you may want to give away some of the prize ideas below individually. If you plan to just play one game, you may want to create an ice cream party gift basket. Here are some hot prizes for the winners of ice cream party games.

  • Jars of toppings like hot fudge
  • Ice cream bowls
  • Ice cream scoops
  • Popsicle making kits
  • Crazy straws for milk shakes

Our ice cream party gift basket price was a big hit and a bargain too.

We shopped the summer sales at CVS and we were able to put together an ice cream party gift basket for under $12.00. We found a wire utensil caddy, two banana split bowls, a set of four popsicle makers and an ice cream scoop. We added a jar of Smucker's Hot Fudge sauce that was on sale for $1.50 and colorful tissue paper. This made a clever display and a really fun prize.

See the fun in the blind taste test.

A blind taste test is a fun ice cream party game. You'll need a bandanna, several flavors of ice cream and a scorekeeper and let the tasting game begin.

Pick a number 1 through 100.

This is a super easy party game. You need paper scraps and pencils. The hostess picks a number between one and one hundred and all of the guests write down their guess. The closest to the hostess goes home with the ice cream gift basket.

Create a name for a new ice cream flavor.

When your guests just can't really eat any more ice cream take a break and enjoy some imaginary ice creams. Pass out paper and pencils and let everyone create a new name for a new flavor of ice cream. Have them put their name on the back. Now display all of the new ice cream flavor names anonymously and let the crowd vote. May the best flavor win.
