Have you ever attended a party and decided to forego adding ice to your drink? Maybe it didn't look very good, or maybe there wasn't enough. Freezing ice for a party doesn't seem very difficult, but the ice you serve can make the difference between providing thirst quenching drinks and drinks that are dumped. Don't let your party go down the drain. Serve ice that's crystal clear, or make ice that's colorful and highly impressive. No matter the type you serve, make sure you serve enough.

The following information provides all you need to know to make ice for a party. You'll also learn the amount you'll need according to the number of party attendants. Make your next party one to remember by serving ice that's anything but boring!

Amount

Knowing how much ice to make before a party is important. You don't want to run out, but you don't want a freezer full after the gang goes home. Plan on making about eight ounces of ice per person. Some people may not use that much, but others may use more. It's a good amount to have on hand so you won't run out.

Flavored

If you don't like water-downed beverages, don't serve frozen water for party drinks. Make cubes of ice using the drinks you plan to serve, or better yet, make complimenting flavors of contrasting colors for something different and fun.

For instance, if you're planning on serving a bowl full of red tropical punch, make it even more colorful by freezing cubes made from another fruit-flavored color. Try grape, orange, lime, or blue raspberry. It will make colorful swirls that won't make the punch watery as it melts.

Fruit-filled

If you want to color and pizzazz to party drinks, add real pieces of fruit to water filled trays. Add fresh whole strawberries, cherries, grapes, blueberries, or any kind of fruit you prefer.

Rainbow

How about rainbow-striped cubes for your next party? It's very easy to make color-striped cubes of ice. Simply make various colors of fruit-flavored drinks, and pour the first color into the bottom of ice cube trays. Freeze the first color, and chill the second color until it's very cold. Pour the next color over the first color, and allow the second type to freeze. Continue this procedure until the ice cube trays are filled with rainbow colored cubes of ice.

Crystal Clear

Make crystal clear cubes of ice for your party by first boiling the water. Allow the water to cool, and fill ice cube trays of your choice. Make crystal clear shapes or standard cubes. Ice cubes that look like crystal will definitely impress your party guests.

Ice cubes float because they are surprisingly less dense than water.
