The excitement will begin with a new season dialogue to the show:
"In the dark heart of Alaska, there's a road where hell is frozen over. The Ice Road Truckers are now in Alaska on the most dangerous road ever; confronting their toughest challenge, and out here, not everyone survives."
Intermittently throughout this dialogue, one of the drivers say:
"Something happened in the spring..."
"We had the only woman on the road get killed..."
"Just about a man killed every six months..."
"Never leave your truck; you'd probably freeze to death and die..."
The drivers will be driving across the tundra where rivers crisscross, and open ocean to connect with North Slopes oil fields. They have less than three months to haul much needed supplies over the ice.
Driver profile for Season Three:
1. Hugh - the Polar Bear is back. He is known to work his crew so hard, they quit.
2. Alex - is back also, as a veteran of the show. Last season he had to quit because of ill-health. He's been driving truck for 37 years. He doesn't consider himself a truck driver, but he does drive a truck. He says that he will do whatever it takes to make a dollar.
3. Lisa - rides motorcycles as well as driving trucks, and has crashed both. She is the first female driver in the Ice Road Truckers series.
4. Cody - get teased a lot because he is one of the youngest drivers. He is 24 years old.
5. George - a pioneer of the Dalton Highway. He claims that he will be retiring after this season, but others say that they have heard that before.
6. Jack - will haul anything anywhere, and admits that he's in it for the money. He tells that he paid a guy $300 to teach him how to drive a truck, and pass the test. He also states, "You don't take your eyes off the road; you have to respect it."
7. Tim - was surrounded by trucks as a kid. The first five trips he made on ice roads was in a white-out, and couldn't see the road at all. Says he was not out to prove himself to anybody but himself.
Season Three of Ice Road Truckers promises to have the same excitement and anticipation as the other two series, with new drivers, and a new mission to put a slightly different slant on the show.
