After you've finished producing your ID card (or getting it produced), you should think about ID card accessories that will make it easier for you to keep track of your ID card and minimize any falling-out-of-wallet or pocket incidents. There are a number of options if you're interested in looking at ways you can keep track of your ID card.
Lanyards
ID badge lanyards are an excellent way to visibly display ID cards clearly. ID card lanyards can be flat or round. Flat ID badge lanyards are either standard or "break-away" meaning they have a clasp that releases when tugged, protecting the wearer if the lanyard gets caught on something.
The lanyards are attached to the ID cards via an ID badge holder or ID card dispenser that holds and carries the ID card. Steel and plastic attachments like bull-dog clips, swivel hooks, and split rings are several types of attachments a lanyard uses, and they usually come in most colors, including clear.
Reels
ID card holder reels are tiny round reels (as in could fit on a keychain easily) that contain retractable cords. The retractable cord is one of the best aspects of an ID card reel because they make it more efficient and quicker to use when you have to swipe your ID card through the reader.
ID card reels come in two shapes - round and square. They also come in myriad colors and designs, but are only made of several materials, such as solid-colored plastic, clear plastic and heavy-duty black plastic. Stickers are also optional depending on the place you buy from.
Slot punches
ID cards have holes made with slot punches that allow you to run lanyards, clips or ID card straps through the holes and secure the card.
Clips, pins, and findings
ID cards are attached to the clothing through the use of findings, pins, and clips. A finding is a magnetic device that sticks to the ID card and has a small accessory you put on the back through your shirt, which is then sandwiched between the magnets. An ID badge strap clip connects to an ID cards by using straps which fit through slots punched into the ID cards with a slot puncher.
Clips and pins come in various forms, including pressure sensitive clips or bar pins and glue-on clips and pins. Bar pins use either safety pins or pins with safety catches; clips grip fabric from your clothing with nickel plated steel (NPS) or plastic shanks. "Pin clips" use both ways of "clipping.
ID Badge Holders
A light, handy, affordable way to carry your ID card, clear ID card holders are flexible and manageable, and you won't lose it unless you take it off. Because they are simple, they are disposable and great for large events.
Arm Bands
ID arm bands allow employees in assembly lines, airports, warehouses and other active workplaces to work both safely and freely. They also allow you to go though your day with your card securely attached to your body.
