Ida's Sugar Cookies

Simple and Delicious

Ida D.
I first started making cookies using Mrs. Fields recipes. After a while I started changing them around and adding on to them until one day I decided to put the book away and make up my own. Since, I have created several original cookie recipes based off of what I had in the kitchen at the time.

The following recipe is the first I ever created. I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:

3/4 cup of margarine

1 cup of sugar

1 egg

2 table spoons of vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups of flour

First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Then, in a mixing bowl, mix the margarine and sugar. When thoroughly blended, add the egg and the vanilla extract. Mix. When blended, add flour and mix well.

Drop cookies on a cookie sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart. Or, for chewier cookies, roll cookies into balls about 2 inch in diameter instead of dropping. Add your choice of sprinkles and get creative.

Put cookie sheet in oven and bake for 10 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are light golden brown.

Makes about 32 cookies.

NOTE: If you want to make CHOCOLATE sugar cookies, just substitute 1/2 cup of flour with 1/2 cup of cocoa powder add and additional 1/2 cup of sugar!)
