Ideal Bible Verses for Christmas Cards

Scriptures to Keep Christians Focused on Why They Celebrate Christmas

ShawnTe Pierce
Christmas is a holiday celebrated the world over by believers of Yeshua Ha-Mashiach (Jesus the Christ) and those of other belief systems as well. For those of the Christian faith this is the time of year when the birth of Jesus is celebrated and honored. One way for Christians to honor Jesus is to select Bible verses for Christmas cards to send to family and friends.

Christmas Card Bible Verses About God's Word

Many people have heard that Jesus is the Son of God, but before Jesus was born in the flesh, he existed as the Word of God. There are two great Bible verses for Christmas cards that tell of Jesus as the Word of God and how God's Word functions.

Beginning with the Old Testament in the book of Isaiah God tells of how His Word functions.

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. - Isaiah 55:11 NASB

Going to the New Testament the Bible states in John the first chapter that Jesus, the Son of God is God's Word in human form.

The Word became a human being and lived here with us. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come down to us. - John 1:14 CEV

One of the purposes of Jesus coming to the world was to make known the truth of God. What better Bible verses for Christmas cards are there than these which tell the believer that God sent his Son (His Word) to accomplish His desire for man to know His truth. For the Christian, it is known by faith that Jesus died and rose again to return to God. Jesus did not return to God empty or void, He returned after accomplishing the tasks he was sent to do.

Bible Verses for Christmas Cards to Remind All to Love

Many people regardless of their faith will agree that the Christmas holiday season is a season full of love. What better Bible verses for Christmas cards than those found in the first book of Paul's letter to the Corinthians in the thirteenth chapter.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT

Another great Bible verse for Christmas cards comes from the first letter of John (not the gospel of John) which comes after the second letter of Peter.

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light ... - 1 John 2:10(a) KJV

Not only does the Christmas season remind people to love their fellow man, but for those of the Christian faith and for those who believe in Yeshua (Jesus) this season reminds them of the love God has for all. This scripture taken from the gospel of John makes an ideal bible verse for a Christmas card.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. - John 3:16 NASB

Christmas Card Bible Verses to Bring Joy to the Spirit

Christmas is often filled with joyous singing and holiday wishes being granted. These Bible verses for Christmas cards serve to remind Christians to be joyful and sing praises to God during the holiday season.

Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. - Psalm 37:4 KJV

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD! - Psalm 150:6 NASB

Bible Verses for Christmas Cards Reminding us of the Gift and Promise of Life

Christmas is also about gift giving which all who celebrate the holiday join in on. However, for believers in Jesus, the greatest gift was already given: His life. These three Bible verses for Christmas cards remind Christians of the gift of life given through Jesus the Christ.

In him was life, and that life was the light of men. - John 1:4 TNIV

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6 TNIV

Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty. All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people. - Revelation 21:6-7 CEV

Think of how special your Christmas cards will be this year by adding bible verses that relate to the season. Not only will fellow believers in Jesus be warmed by the Christmas cards but these cards can also be used as a non intrusive way to introduce others to Jesus. There are plenty of Bible verses for Christmas cards to use. Search through the Bible and by doing so, you will be blessed via the Word of God.

Great choices! Still enchanted by the "love is patient" one...no matter how many times I've read it over the years.
