Idealism

A Poem

Etienne J. Sarfelli
I see things as I want to see them

Not necessarily as they truly are

I see that you love me

I don't see that my rationale is flawed

I see your kindness and not your indifference

I see your warmth and not your cool demeanor

I see the rainbow long before I notice the rain

I see a beautifully calm ocean instead of the choppy seas

I see my idealism as a gift and not a curse

I think I am better off seeing the world through rose colored glasses

And not having to always see the harsh realities

I think that people like me are necessary

Those of us who still have dreams to cling to

provide the nourishment for those who don't dream at all

I see the world differently from many people

Yet there are plenty more just like me

You may see things as they are at the moment

While I see them as they are going to be
