Ideas for Adult Halloween Party Games, Decorations and Invitations

Sometimes it can be a struggle to come up with ideas for Halloween party fun. Fortunately, there are many ideas for games, decorations and invitations that will make your Halloween party a huge success. Many of these Halloween party ideas are cheap and easy to implement. Still, make sure you get started well ahead of Halloween so that everything is ready in time.

Adult Halloween Party Game Ideas

Some of the most popular Halloween party games include drinking games. You can make just about any game into a drinking game by slightly changing the rules. For example, play a game of charades or Pictionary, or play or a trivia game such as Trivial Pursuit. Make it a rule that the guests have to take a drink every time they get an answer wrong. Another idea is to put on a horror movie, and agree that everyone at the party must drink whenever someone in the movie screams or dies, or when a particular character appears on the screen.

You can also play icebreaker games to make the guests at your Halloween party feel more comfortable and relaxed around one another. One of the best icebreaker games is Twister. Have at least four party guests get onto the game mat at one time to make it more fun. A scavenger hunt is another icebreaker game that most adults find amusing. Break the party guests up into small groups. Give them tasks to find commonplace objects such as pens, coins, paper clips, shoe laces, photos and key chains. The only rule is that they have to find these objects by asking members of the other groups if they have them. The winning group gets a special prize such as a bucket full of candy or some inexpensive gifts from the dollar store.

Old standard party games such as Truth or Dare also offer opportunities for Halloween fun. To create a Halloween Truth or Dare game, get two pumpkin candy buckets. Fill one with slips of paper with questions, the other with dares. Have one guest ask another if he wants a truth or dare. The questions should be slightly personal and embarrassing, such as "What are you most afraid of?" or "What's the stupidest thing you've ever done?" Dares should be something like "Remove a piece of clothing," or "Sit in the lap of the person beside you." You can make your questions and dares more risque than this, but don't include any that are illegal or potentially dangerous. When you're finished with a question or a dare, put the slip of paper back in the appropriate bucket. The player who was last asked a question or dared to do something asks "Truth or Dare?" of the next player.

Last but not least, have a Halloween costume contest at your party. Be sure to let your guests know in advance when you send out invitations so that they can make the best Halloween costume possible. All of the entries in the Halloween party costume contest must be homemade to qualify. Judge the Halloween costumes based on originality, creativity and ingenuity.

Adult Halloween Party Decoration Ideas

You can make some very scary Halloween party decorations without much time, money or effort. One of your most important decorating tasks is to create ambiance. Get several black lights and use them to replace the light bulbs in your foyer, living room, kitchen and any other rooms you will use for your Halloween party. Set a block of dry ice in a large container and cover it with water just before your party guests arrive to create a spooky mist. Always use gloves when handling dry ice and don't allow your guests to touch the block. Of course, you'll have to carve a killer pumpkin for your Halloween party, preferably several.

Place some fake cobwebs throughout your home in the corners of the rooms. Make tiny spiders from black chenille stems and attach them to the cobwebs.

Make witches, ghosts and bats from paper and hang them from the ceiling from string. Print out this skeleton craft project template to make a spooky decoration for your door. To make your Halloween party atmosphere complete, play a CD with some scary sound effects or music.

Adult Halloween Party Invitation Ideas

You can download free templates for your Halloween party invitations at many websites. Look at a site such as About.com, 123PrintCards.com or InternetFamilyFun.com to find Halloween party invitations on themes such as jack-o'-lanterns, graveyards, black cats, ghosts and witches. If you have graphics processing software on your computer, you can also design your own Halloween party invitations. Simply create an image or project that's 8 1/2 by 11 inches. Divide the image into four equal rectangles. Find some free Halloween clip art such as a witch, ghost, zombie, pumpkin, vampire or tombstone. Place the clip art in the rectangle on the bottom right. Color it in if desired. Print out the invitation, then fold the paper in half, then fold it in half again. Write your personal Halloween party invitation on the inside. Use wording such as, "Come to my Halloween party and we'll have a scream!" or "We'd be frightfully happy to have you at our Halloween party!"
