Breast Cancer Fundraisers: Bake Sale
A bake sale is an easy way to raise money for any cause. Have your friends or coworkers bake items. You might decorate some cupcakes with pink frosting, make pink sugar cookies, or serve pink milk by the glass. Make it be fun. Post fliers in advance so everyone remembers to bring money, and have the bake sale in a location that everyone can find. Setting up your breast cancer fundraiser near a lunch room is a good idea, or anywhere that will get a lot of traffic.
Breast Cancer Fundraisers: Pajama Day
Get permission from your boss to have a dress-down day at the office. Have employees "pay" to wear what they want to work. You can have a pay schedule, or let everyone donate what they want. An example of a scale would be something like $5 to wear jeans, $10 to wear shorts, and $20 to wear pajamas. Also put out a collection jar for those who don't want to participate in the breast cancer fundraiser, or can't for some reason. Also, you can fine people - like a dollar fine for every tie.
Breast Cancer Fundraisers: School Dance
If you have older children, this is for them. Have them talk to their principal and see if they can host a school dance to raise money for breast cancer. They can make decorations for the gym, and sell tickets, which will be the proceeds for the fundraiser. You can also combine this with a bake sale or snack table to raise additional money. Get lots of kids and their parents involved.
Breast Cancer Fundraisers: Fashion Show
A fashion show is another great breast cancer fundraiser that teens can put together. Have your teen work with their friends to collect gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and handbags. They can set up a fashion show and sell tickets for a small entry fee. They can use the school gym or a community center. All they need for a runway is a spacious walkway down the center aisle, with chairs on each side, and some good music. Afterwards, the items collected can be sold to raise more donations.
Breast Cancer Fundraisers: Organizations
If you do not have the time or resources needed to host a breast cancer fundraiser, consider helping out by joining an advocacy group, or taking part in any of the many fundraising events that are held across the country each year. The Susan G. Komen Foundation sponsors many such events in various locations. You can search for upcoming breast cancer fundraisers at their website.
Another breast cancer fundraising resource is the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This group can work with you to help you plan and execute a breast cancer fundraiser. They also collect donations, and have a special program that helps women who are uninsured get free mammograms.
Whatever your ability, take some time to plan or attend a breast cancer fundraiser in your community. This is a disease that can affect anyone, and until a cure is found, every dollar helps.
