J. Motes
Here are some ideas for cheap vacation destinations that will help to save your budget. While many people are struggling financially the vacation is often one of the first things to be cut. Vacations however are more than just fun they are an opportunity to relax, bond with your family, and gather new experiences. With that in mind here are three suggestions for cheap vacations that you can take or use the information to find your own cheap destination to suit your needs.

Las Vegas on the Cheap

Many look at Las Vegas as a playground for high rollers and celebrities. But during the economic boom Vegas was busy building and now many bargains can be found. I did a quick search using an internet booking site for a July weekend and found that rooms at the Trump International Hotel could be reserved for less than $80 a day. With careful shopping you could probably do even better! This hotel does not have a casino but is located close to the strip. With plenty of air service and a lot of vacant rooms Las Vegas may make a great place to cut loose and relax with out spending a lot of money.

Not Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, but Close

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge in the Great Smoky Mountains are two popular mountain vacation destinations. But with a high level of demand, the prices for accommodations are often expensive and the traffic is a nightmare! If you are attracted to Dollywood and some of the shopping and entertainment attractions of the area then you don't have a lot of options. But if you are looking for a quite place to relax in the mountains, fish, bike, whitewater raft, or sight see there are plenty of other choices. One such location is just over the mountains from Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge: Bryson City, NC. (There is also a nearby Bryson City, TN, but I have been there.) A quick internet searched turned up quite a few cabins renting in the $100 a night range near Bryson City, TN. There is plenty of outdoor fun and not nearly the amount of traffic!

Your Local State Parks

State Parks all across the country are trying to keep their cabins rented and their lodges full by marketing different overnight packages to do so. Many states are offering package deals for weekend escapes for families, couples, and other groups. For instance, Arkansas's lovely Queen Wilhelmina State Park is offering a Romantic Rendezvous Package which includes a one night stay in their lodge including dinner and breakfast for about $170. Other package deals are available as well. You local state parks are almost certainly offering similar deals.

These are just a sampling of the many great vacation deals waiting to be found. Don't give up on your weekend escapes this year just shop around and find a bargain.
