Ideas for a Christmas Gift that Kids Can Make

Children enjoy using their talents to show their family they care. They may not have any money but they have a lot of heart and a lot of creativity. Children have an amazing imagination that can create arts and crafts in ways we've never even thought of. As you use these craft ideas, be sure to let and encourage your child to use his or her imagination and take these crafts in their own decoration. You may be surprised at what fun things come out of it. Here are some Christmas crafts they can make to give out as presents for family and friends.

One of my favorite Christmas arts and crafts activities when I was little was making gingerbread men as Christmas tree ornaments. I'm not sure why it was so exciting, but it was. There are so many different materials you can use to make these. The most obvious is creating real gingerbread men, leaving a hole on the top to thread a yarn through for later. Decorate, and hang on the tree. Another way is to use construction paper and markers for the littler ones. You can even use the fuzzy snowballs for buttons. Another favorite ornament for the kids to make for the Christmas tree are using candy canes for inspiration. The most popular decoration using candy canes are making little reindeer with pipe cleaners as antlers, googly eyes, and a little fuzzy red nose. Use craft glue as this will help the items stay on better. Your child can make several of these for friends and family and pass them out during the holidays. Best of all, if you ever get hungry, just grab one off the tree, unpeel the wrapper and snack away!

Christmas crafts would not be complete without making paper snowflakes! For school-age children, this is always fun because you end up with a really cool creation that's a surprise at the very end. If you have a smaller child, you might want to only fold a piece of paper four times. If you have an older child, you can fold it in a triangle form. Either way, round off the corners of the papers. Give your child some child safe scissors and let them cut along the creases, creating little holes and designs. When you are done, open up and admire your creation.
