Ideas for Decorating Your Classroom for Christmas

Are you a classroom teacher? If so, Christmas is an important time during the year. There are so many things you can do to make your classroom look wonderful during this time of year. You don't have to spend tons of money to do it! Your children will love the decorations and your room will be the talk of the school. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Every room must have a Christmas Tree. A tree makes your room 'official' when it comes to the holiday season. There are lots of small tree's that you can purchase for your room for around 30 bucks. Decorate your tree with lights and bulbs. Have your students create their own ornaments for decorating the tree. You can always incorporate this idea into your teaching. While students create their ornaments have them focus on a particular thing like their writing or something you are working on in math. Students can have fun and learn both at the same time.

Bulletin Boards are great ways to fill your room with the holiday spirit. You can always find lots of Christmas border for your bulletin board. Check your local teacher store for lots of great border. Use the boards as a chance to work on writing in your classroom. Students can use this opportunity to write about Christmas Traditions they celebrate. They can write about how they will spend their Christmas vacation. Include art and craft activities to go along with the writing. Kids will love the activities and they will look that much forward to their upcoming break. Search the Internet for all sorts of other bulletin board ideas for the holidays.

Don't forget about desks. Both student and teacher desk should be decorated during Christmas time. Find Christmas name tags to put on your students desks. Christmas Garland also comes in handy as you can wrap it in almost any way you want. Make all your desks as colorful and alive as possible.

What is Christmas without lights. Make sure to put lots of lights around the tree and around the classroom. Even if you can't keep them on the entire day, just a few minutes out of your day will make your room seem more fit for Christmas. Be creative and make your room stand out.

As you move toward the beginning of Christmas Break, you have to think about gifts. Most Christmas parties have some sort of small gift exchange. Why not have students bring their gifts in early and stick them all under the tree. Then, during your Christmas Party, have students exchange and open. The pile of gifts under the tree will make the anticipation high as you approach your vacation.

Christmas is an excellent opportunity for a classroom teacher to decorate their room. With everything from a Christmas Tree to lights, teachers can make their room full of Christmas cheer.
