It can be great fun to dress up for Halloween, but being that it is October 31st, and very likely pretty cold outside, many costume choices can make your Halloween outings uncomfortable. Besides covering your costume up with a coat, here are some tips can help you dress more warmly on Halloween Day.
Find flesh toned leggings and long sleeve undershirts to wear under your costume. This may be easier for darker people, because brown clothing is quite popular, but if you go to the lingerie department at your local Target or Walmart, you will be able to find flesh toned leggings and long sleeve tops to keep you warm under your costume.
Plan a costume that calls for warm street clothes as an integral part of the costume. A costume from The Matrix movie would call for black pants, a black shirt, and a long black duster jacket or coat. Another cold weather appropriate costume would be a duck costume which would involve orange leggings and a soft cuddly upper body costume. Always put small children in costumes make from head to toe polar fleece or anything that can go over their jacket.
Wear a cape or cloak to stay warm on Halloween. If the idea of bulking up for Halloween turns you off, consider choosing a costume with a cape that you can wrap around you to warm up. Costumes that involve capes or cloaks include a vampire, Harry Potter, royalty, witches, and super heroes.
Design your Halloween Costume around your coat to keep the fall chill away. If you have a fur coat, go as a socialite by adding an old ball gown and a tiara. Take a black jacket and black pants and create a cat costume with the addition of makeup, ears, and a tail. Use your leather jacket to dress as a Greaser. Use a military style jacket to go as a soldier or a bandleader.
As you can see, your don't need to cover your costume with a coat to be warm on Halloween. You only need to be creative and look for costumes that will look great with an under layer of clothing, or that require a coat or jacket as part of the costume.
