Ideas for Baby Bumble Bee Halloween Costumes and Accessories
Start with some one-piece yellow baby pajamas or a long yellow gown. Cut some 2 inch wide strips of black felt. Sew the strips onto the pajamas or gown 2 inches apart. Cut two small bumble bee wings out of cardboard. Paint the wings black, white or yellow, then apply thin insect wing veins using iridescent fabric paint or glitter glue. Attach the wings to the back of the baby costume with hot glue. To make the bumble bee antennae accessory, get a small child's headband and attach two black chenille stems with hot glue. Attach one large black pom pom to the end of each chenille stem. Add yellow or black booties to make the baby's bumble bee costume complete.
Ideas for Kids' Bumble Bee Halloween Costumes and Accessories
To make a girl's bumble bee Halloween costume, start with a black or yellow long-sleeved leotard or shirt. Attach 2 inch wide strips of cloth in the opposite color. Attach some decorative accessories such as yellow and white cloth flowers to the front of the shirt. Get a black or yellow skirt. You could also layer a yellow skirt over a slightly longer black skirt or vice versa. Then get some black or yellow tights and black shoes. Find two wire coat hangers and remove the curved hook segments. Bend the hangers into an elongated wing shape. Cover them in white panty hose or white sheer fabric such as chiffon or tulle. Paint some insect wing veins onto the wings using white fabric paint or silver glitter glue. Attach some metallic gold chenille stems to a plastic headband covered in yellow cloth. Attach some metallic gold or silver pom poms to the ends with hot glue. You can make this into a honey bee costume by adding a honey pot accessory.
To make a boy's bumble bee Halloween costume, get a slightly oversized black or yellow hooded warm up suit or jumpsuit. Either sew or hot glue 4 inch wide strips of opposite colored cloth onto the suit. Attach black chenille stems to the hood with hot glue, then attach black or yellow pom poms. Get some black shoes to go with the boy's bumble bee costume.
Ideas for Adult Bumble Bee Halloween Costumes and Accessories
To make a women's bumble bee Halloween costume, get a yellow short sleeved blouse. Cut some strips of cloth 2 inches wide and sew or hot glue them to the blouse. Wear a black or yellow miniskirt. You could also make a tutu for your adult bumble bee costume. Get an elastic waistband, then get some yellow and black tulle fabric and cut it into strips that are about 6 inches wide and 30 inches long. Fold the tulle strips in half, then loop them around the elastic waistband. Alternate between yellow and black tulle as you make the tutu to create a striped effect. Get two wire coat hangers and remove the hooks. Bend the hangers until they are shaped like a long bumble bee wing. Cover the wings in yellow tulle fabric and attach the fabric with hot glue. Paint the wing veins on with glitter glue. Wear black or yellow tights or panty hose or black and yellow striped socks with black high-heeled shoes or boots. Get a plastic headband, and attach two chenille stems or pieces of wire with hot glue. Attach two yellow pom poms to the ends. You can easily make this into a queen bee costume by attaching your antennae to a plastic costume crown instead of a headband and adding accessories such as long black gloves and some rhinestone jewelry. You can also use additional accessories such as a gold mask or a yellow silk flower to make your bee costume more unique.
To make a men's bumble bee costume, make a yellow and black striped shirt similar to the women's bumble bee costume shirt. Get a long yellow or black jacket with tails and some black pants and shoes. Wear a black or yellow cummerbund. Get a pair of black goggles with black lenses. Decorate them with small dots of gold glitter glue. Attach long black chenille stems to the goggles and attach black or yellow pom poms to the end with hot glue. You can wear the goggles over your eyes or up on your head. You can also make a men's bee costume by attaching yellow stripes to a black warm up suit.
