First Thing that makes the List: How to cook. It is okay to include this activity in your curriculum. In fact, I had a home economics class in the eighth grade. In this class, we learned how to cook certain items such as pancakes.
Second Thing that makes the List: How about setting up a kitchen table? It would be handy to teach your kids how to set the table. It is important for them to learn where the forks, knives and spoons go.
Third Thing that makes the List: You should teach them how to wash the dishes. One way this can benefit them is it can help them improve their organizational skills. After all, you are likely to organize where you put your plates, glasses, bowls and silverware in the sink as you wash the dishes. Another way is it can get them in the habit of washing a certain set of dishes such as glasses before getting to the others.
Fourth Thing that makes the List: Dining Etiquette. Yes! What good does it do to teach your children how to cook and set a table without covering dining etiquette? One aspect of this they need to learn is to hold their forks with the palms of their hands facing them when eating.
Fifth Thing that makes the List: Covering math. You can use the kitchen table to hold cards and games that cover math. You can also use this room to teach your kids how to do addition, subtraction, division and multiplication with apples and oranges.
Sixth Thing that makes the List: You can cover reading. You can easily use this section of the house to help them improve their reading and writing skills.
Seventh Thing that makes the List: You must cover answering the telephone and making phone calls. Your sons and daughters must learn how to talk on the phone effectively and courteously.
Eighth Thing that makes the List: How about science? You can cover experiments that involve water and fire.
Ninth Thing that makes the List: What about finance? You can easily use this room to teach them how to set a budget and balance a checkbook.
You have learned ideas for home schooling lessons you can teach in the kitchen.
