Ideas for Homemade Christmas Presents

Jane Vee
If money is scarce, you can still give a wonderful heartfelt Christmas present. Everyone has a talent or something they can do without spending money. This year is a perfect time to seal those wallets shut and unleash those gifts from your heart.

Everyone needs help once in awhile. Why not offer friends and family help that you can do. You will give them a nice gift that you do not have to pay for and in return they will save money and time on a chore.

Babysitting - If you have a friend or family member that has a child, you can offer to babysit for them for free. Be clear on your offer so they know if it is for a set time or day and how long you will babysit for.

House Repairs - If you are good at home maintenance or repairs, you could offer your services for free. Set a time limit on the amount of work you will do for free. You do not want to be taken advantage of by your family or friends. Make sure you let the receiver know who is paying for supplies and any parts that are necessary.

Car Repairs - Car maintenance and repairs is a great gift you can offer. Be sure you are specific with your offer. You don't want to be rebuilding an engine for free. You also want to make clear who has to pay for supplies or parts.

Oil Changes - If you can do oil changes, even that would be a help to someone. Sometimes people cannot do their own oil changes or they do not have the time to. If you offer to change their oil you can save them time and money. Be specific as to who needs to purchase the oil and filter.

House Cleaning - Almost everyone can clean. If you know someone who is busy or just does not like to clean you can offer them a house cleaning by you certificate. Be precise as to what you are volunteering to clean and make sure you let them know who has to purchase the cleaning products and supplies.

Crochet - If you can crochet, you can give someone a hat, mittens, scarf or all of the above for little to no money. A homemade gift will warm their hearts as well as parts of their body.

Quilt - You may know how to quilt. You can make a blanket for someone you know. A homemade quilt will keep them warm and decorate their room.

Sewing - Some people need clothes mended and they just do not have the time to do it or maybe they do not know how. You could volunteer to sew for someone. Be specific about what you are capable or want to do for the person.

Some of the other items that you can make by hand includes cross stitch, homemade picture frames, ornaments, and even home cooked meals.

Regardless of what you offer to do, be specific so no one winds up with hurt feelings or feeling cheated. Christmas is the time to give. So, give from the heart and have a Merry Christmas.

These are great gift ideas for any time of the year. Who couldn't use some free home repair? Doesn't it always seem like something needs work, or is that just my house?
