Ideas for Homemade Peter Pan Halloween Costumes

Jennifer Claerr
The story of Peter Pan contains many characters that you could use as a basis for a Halloween costume. You could either use a costume inspired by Peter Pan to go solo on Halloween, or use the characters from the book and movie to create a group Peter Pan costume. Here are a few ideas for homemade Peter Pan costumes that are cheap and easy to make.

Homemade Peter Pan Halloween Costume Ideas

The Peter Pan costume works for adult men and women and for boys and girls of any age. Long green short sleeved shirt, preferably in felt or fleece fabric. Cut the hems of the sleeve and end of the shirt to a jagged edge. Then find some green leggings or tights. Find a green felt costume woodman's hat or make one using a sewing pattern.

Get a belt or piece of rope to go around your waist. Then find a prop sword and some green felt slippers or shoe covers.

Homemade Peter Pan Wendy Halloween Costume Ideas

To make a Wendy Halloween costume, get a long blue dress with short balloon sleeves. Find a blue ribbon to tie around your waist and another to put in your hair. If your hair is long and brown, style it back into ringlets. If not, style a long brown wig into a ringlet hairstyle using sponge rollers. Wear white socks or tights and black patent leather shoes.

Homemade Peter Pan Captain Hook Halloween Costume Ideas

To get started making a Captain Hook Halloween costume, you'll need a long red frock coat or winter coat, preferably with black and gold trim. If the frock coat doesn't have trim, you can sew or hot glue it on. You'll also need an old black pair of jogging pants, some tall black boots and a lacy jabot and cuffs. Cut off the pants below the knee and attach strips of cloth to the cut area. Leave some of the length of the cloth strips unsewn at the outer leg so you can tie the pants below the knee. Also find a black tricorn pirate's hat, a long curly black wig and a fake handlebar mustache. Attach a large white feather to the hat. Attach the mustache with spirit gum. Use a 1 liter soda bottle and a wire hanger as a base for making a pirate's hook. Cut off the wire hanger near the hook. Also cut off the soda bottle near the top. Push the curved portion of the hanger through the top of the cut off soda bottle. Duct tape the loose ends of the hanger to the inside of the soda bottle. Unbend the hook of the hanger slightly to give it the right look. Then cover the hook with paper mache. When the paper mache had dried, paint the hook silver and the soda bottle black.

Homemade Peter Pan Lost Boys Halloween Costume Ideas

A Peter Pan lost boys Halloween costume would make a great costume for a group of young boys. Get some hooded and footed solid-color pajamas for each boy who will wear a lost boys costume. Then get some large pom poms, some striped black and white fabric, some pink fabric, some fabric to match the pajamas and some polyester batting. Make animal ears such as rabbit ears, cat ears and bear ears out of cardboard. Cover the back of the ears with the fabric that matches the pajamas. Cover the inside of the ears with pink fabric. Sew the animal ears onto the hoods of the pajamas. Make a tail from the black and white striped fabric. Sew it together with the fabric inside out, then turn it right side out and stuff it with the batting. Sew this onto the back of one pair of pajamas.

Oh, how cute! I'll send this to my daughter, but Erie, PA is probably too cold for these costumes.
