Ideas to Liven Up Your Home Bar Area

Many individuals already have or are planning to place a bar area in their homes. This article will give you some ideas to consider when remodeling or adding a bar area to your home.

SPACE; How big of an area do you have to work with? Do you plan to entertain very small or large groups of friends and family? Whichever way you decide to go, make sure you have plenty of work space behind your bar. You need working room and storage behind your bar.

WORKING SINK AREA; If at all possible place a sink with a drain behind your bar. In most situations, you want it out of view from individuals seated at your bar. You will be glad you invested in this idea.

REFRIGERATOR or COOLER; This is a must. You need ice and a way to chill glasses and beverages. In most small bar areas, a small one will be good enough.

LIGHTING; You don't want bright lighting in a bar area. People like to relax. Reduced lighting gives a relaxing atmosphere. Many times you can get enough light from neon signs if you have them.

NEON SIGNS; No bar is complete without some type of neon sign . Where to place them depends on their weight and how big they are. Most bars have them located at the end of a bar area or above the back bar wall.

WINE and GLASSES; You can build a wall cabinet . On one inside door hang your glasses. On the otherside place your bottles of wine.

BAR STOOLS; If possible have foot rests on your stools. This is especially important if you have elevated stools.

LIQUOR SHELVES; You can place two or three of these at eye level behind your bar. Just a note; Always keep your liquor shelves out of the reach of your visitors. This is so you have control over them.

FLOORING; You want flooring that easy to clean. Tile works best. If you go with a carpet, use a dark shade. This will cover stains and spills.

MIRRORS; Although they are very attractive, they are expensive. I suggest going with a mirror that is 18 inches by 4 feet in length. If you can find an old vanity mirror in a frame, use it. Just secure it to the center of the wall behind your bar with dry wall screws.

EXTRAS; Anything else that can add to your bar area, use it. Dart games are excellent. as is pool tables . If you are sports minded, use sport items for decor.

Your bar is an extension of your personality. These are just a few ideas. I also suggest going on line and just looking at family bars for ideas.
