Torch Invitations
Why do traditional this year? Try buying tabletop torches or lawn torches to give your guests for an invitation. You will need to hand deliver the torches to each guest but you could do this in creative ways. Place the torches on each person's front porch, steps, walkway, or in the yard. Make sure not to light the torch because it could take a while for your guest to find it and you do not want to start a fire. Make sure to have plenty of the same type of torches at the luau party.
What You Will Need
One torch for each invitation
String
Poster Board
Marker
Hole Puncher
How to Create
Take your poster board and cut out (any shape you want) little invitations to write on. Using the markers write your party invitation information on each poster board cutout. Hole punch a hole in the top of each cutout. Take the string and tie the cutout invitation to your torch. There should be one torch per household.
Hibiscus Flowers
Make things easier this year and let someone else deliver your invitation for you. Order hibiscus flowers from your local florist and attach little notes with your party information on it. You could carry this theme into your entire luau party. Try getting hibiscus themed straws, toothpicks, cups, tablecloths, and table clips.
What You Will Need
The phone number and address of your local florist
Small blank invitations
Pen
Address of each party member
How to Create
Using the pen write your luau party information on each blank card. Take the cards to your local florist with addresses of each party member. Next, order fresh hibiscus flowers from the florist, one for each household, to invite your luau party guests. Have the florist deliver your handwritten cards with each flower.
Hula Skirts and Leis
If you want something a little more traditional you can make invitations out of hula skirts and leis. These party invitations can be mailed and are simple to make. Have leis and hula skirts available for your party guests to wear during the luau. Get luau hula fringe decorations and decorative lei hibiscus flowers to put around the party area.
What You Will Need
Lei
Hula Skirt
Party Invitations (front photo does not matter)
Markers
Glue/Tape
Scissors
How to Create
Cut the string holding the pieces of your lei together. Now, separate the flower petals. Using the scissors cut some grass strings from your hula skirt for each invitation. Take the flower petals from the lei and glue or tape them to the front of your invitation covering the photo. Glue and tape the hula skirt grass strings and flowers to the inside of the card as well. Use the markers to write your luau party information inside the card.
