Ideas to Making Healthy Coffee Drinks at Home

When I want coffee, my mind is swimming in creamer and sweetener. I like to add coffee to them just for that extra flavor. Sometimes buying coffee at your local Java hut can be costly and artery hardening. I try to make my coffee at home, using these few helpful and healthy tips:

Sweeten your coffee with honey and Stevia. There is an inexpensive brand of Stevia in Publix and Albertsons. Honey is something you can buy bulk at Sam's Club or Costco's.

Creamer is okay in moderate amounts. Substitute whole milk for 2%, 1% or skim milk.

Be creative with herbs and spices. Cinnamon added to coffee does not have to be left only for Christmas time. It is also said to lower blood sugar levels. So when your worried even about the honey in your coffee, just add some cinnamon.

Ginger and Nutmeg are friends of cinnamon. You could have a a trio in your cup. Allspice at home can be added to coffee by either boiling the allspice balls in the instantly heated water on the stove top or placed inside filter along with the coffee grounds. It makes your coffee just that more interesting and almost peppery sweet.

Mint leaves are available at any supermarket and should be kept in ample supply for such a welcome occasion as a cup of Joe. Place them in the instant heated water, with the coffee grounds or inside each coffee mug.

Add vanilla extract to the boiling water to evaporate the minute amount of alcohol and to add vanilla taste to your cup.

Baking chocolate powder can be added to your cup or coffee grounds inside the filter of your coffee maker.

Coconut milk can be added by the teaspoon to produce a warm and almost tropical drink.

Goat milk is not a favorite of all peoples but the sweetness of the milk adds a different and healthy digestive alternative to cow's milk.

Almond milk heightens the nuttiness of the coffee bean when added to each drink.

Any combination of these additives will leave you and your house guests feeling satisfied with their cup of coffee.
