Investigators
This is a murder mystery party right? Each guest will really be investigating to see who committed the crime and killed "whoever it is your killing that evening". Why not get your guests to dress as investigators and hand out magnifying glasses as party favors. Create an investigator invitation even.
What You Will Need
Party Invitations (the front photo does not matter)
Crime Scene Tape
Glue/Tape
Poster Board
Markers
How to Create
Take the crime scene tape and wrap it around the front of the invitation about three times to cover the front photo. Secure the crime scene tape in place using glue or tape. When filling out the inside party information also tell your guests to wear "investigator" costumes or outfits. Using the poster board trace the shape of your magnifying glasses for the party and cut out one per invitation. Using markers draw the basic circle on each to represent the glass. Tape or glue one on the end of a piece of crime scene tape a little longer than the invitation. Place the "magnifying glass bookmark" in the invitation so it hangs out the bottom. You can fold this magnifying glass over your invitation to make it fit in the envelopes.
"Clue" Themes
Create invitations with Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, and Miss Scarlet on them. You could get really creative by sending one type of card to each guest and that will be who the person needs to portray or dress up as for your theme party. You would have Professor Plum and Mrs. White running around your party holding pipes and other game items. Those will be great photo moments.
What You Will Need
Party Invitations (no smaller than 3 ½ x 5 and the front photos do not matter)
Print out/copy photos of each Clue character
Glue/Tape
Scissors
How to Create
Cut out the photos of each Clue character and paste them (securely) on the front of your card. You want the photos to be larger than the original invitation so it overhangs and covers the image that came with the card. A sturdier type of paper might be required here. Try emailing photos of each character to Walgreens and getting them printed as an actual picture. This type of paper will hold up and you can still cut it to any shape you need. After your photo is on the face of the card fill in your party information on the inside of the card. You can include smaller photos of each clue character on the left side of the card as well. Or draw/get "Clue" stickers to decorate the inside of each card with.
Nose, Eyebrows, and Mustache Glasses
If you don't necessarily want your guests to dress up for your party then try nose, eyebrows, and mustache glasses. These can be obtained from almost any local dollar store for next to nothing. Include one pair with each invitation even. However, don't forget to have some extra at the party.
What You Will Need
Party Invitations (no smaller than 3 ½ x 5 and the front photos do not matter)
Poster Board
Glue/Tape
Markers
Nose, Eyebrows, and Mustache Glasses (one per invitation)
Scissors
How to Create
Cut out a piece of poster board to cover the front of each card. Glue or tape the poster board over the front picture of each card securely. If you want you can use the markers to write a message on the poster board. Take a pair of nose, eyebrows, and mustache glasses and fold them over the front flap of each invitation. Secure the back of the glasses with tape to keep them in place.
