Ideas for Organizing Your Photos

Pictures are a way to keep memories alive, whether it be your child's first tooth or lack of, or their first holiday, graduation or anything else that may be of importance. Because of this many of us are left with stacks and stacks of photos, and organizing photos can be a daunting task if you have no idea how to do it or don't know where to begin. There are many ways you can organize your photos and here are some examples.

Make a Scrapbook Album - Scrap booking is a great to organize your family photos. They allow you to organize your photos in different ways than the ordinary making them look that much better. Many scrapbooks can be found at craft stores and they all come with ideas on how to organize your photos to make them more memorable for you. Of course you don't have to do it the way that they suggest but just knowing that there are ideas in which you can use, can make organizing your photos that much easier. You can even enlist the help of your little ones because they will love to add ribbons, stickers, borders to pictures, especially if the pictures are of them.

Make an Online Album - If you prefer to use the computer to organize your photos, then you make a SlideShow of your photos and add all the borders, stickers and ribbons just like you would on paper. There are many online website like Kodak that allow you to do this. Another option to organize your photos, is using Microsoft Plus! Photo Story. With this software you can upload your photos and create stories in which you can narrate what is going and add music if you'd like to the stories. So if you organize your child's graduation photos using this software, you can send it to everyone that you know that could not be there.

Make a Collage - If you are daring enough to cut your photos, you can make a collage of all the events you think are special or just photos that have backgrounds that don't look right or came out wrong. You can buy a large frame or cork board and place your photos here. The frame comes with glass to cover it in, but the cork board doesn't so if you use the cork board, you just buy plastic and cover the board with that. You can organize them to say a story, for example if you have a picture in which a baby is looking sideways and another picture of someone facing the other way, you can place both pictures side by side so that it looks like the baby is looking at the person.

Make a Regular Album - You can also go the traditional way and just buy a regular album in which you can organize your photos in. You can always change the cover of the album by adding bows, ribbons, or lace and making it look prettier. You can also buy alphabet letter stickers and add words to the inside of the album. For example, if you have a photo of your grandparents or your child's first steps, you can put words on top like my grandparents or my child's first steps.

Whichever method you use, just keep a copy of your photos so that you always have your originals and memories can last a lifetime.

I love everything in print and showing my three children the joys as well. I believe that writing should be done whether you wish to gain from it or not as a way to express yourself.  View profile
