Sleep
Why not try to catch up on your sleep. You may be able to sleep a bit easier with nothing going on in your home. Sleeping now could potentially be the best sleep you've had in a while.
Play some card games or board games
This idea may help if you have children who are going to get fussy waiting for the electric to come back on . Playing some games with your children is also a great way to bond with your kids. Just sit and play gold fish or if you have a game like monopoly. This is a fun way for you and your children to pass the time, this will also help keep your children occupied until your electric comes back on.
Go outside and get active
If your electricity happens to go out and it is still light outside , dress yourself and your children for the weather and go outside for a bit. If it cold weather and there is snow outside why not build a snowman with your children. If it is warm weather outside take out a ball and play catch with your children. Or you could simply take a walk.
Talk
With how busy our families are these days , we may not have time to ask what is going on in our spouses life and our children life. Take this opportunity to catch up on things with your family. Ask your spouse how there job is going and catch up on things. Talk to your children about school and see how everything is going there. This is a great opportunity for family time and a great way to catch up, as you wait for your electric to come back on.
Pretend you are having a camping trip
This is something you can do with your children. Get some blankets, pillows, and a flashlight. Pretend you are having a camping trip, sing campfire songs and tell stories. If you have marshmallows on hand why not pass them around and eat some marshmallows. Doing this can take your children's mind off not having any electricity and make the wait easier for them.
When the electricity is out it can be very stressful and nerve racking, you don't know when the electric will be turned back on. So these things can help make the wait a bit easier, especially if you have children.
