French Wedding Invitations
Choose invitations that are elegant in ivory or off-white with a blue damask, toile, or classic French toile pattern. Adding a blue ribbon adds extra flair to the invitation set. You could also choose invitations that feature the Eiffel Tower or a fan, reminiscent of the days of Marie Antoinette.
French Wedding Attire
When choosing a wedding gown, you can either choose a dress that features luxurious, dramatic details or go with a simple, modern gown. This tiered ball gown from David's Bridal is heavy on glamour and organza and boasts an asymmetrical style. Also from David's Bridal is this romantic satin ball gown which allows the option of adding a sash to coordinate with your wedding colors. Award-winning French designer Cymbaline has a website you can browse for more ideas for beautiful French styled wedding gowns. Jenny Packham is another design house which showcases gorgeous gowns with a vintage flavor that would be perfect for a French themed wedding.
Accessorize your wedding gown with a birdcage veil, a floral headpiece in blue, or a vintage styled miniature top hat with attached blusher veil. This headpiece from Jenny Packham has a vintage and French flair and uses large Swarovski crystals to create an intricate and glamorous look. Work with your hair stylist prior to the ceremony to decide on a hairstyle that compliments your headpiece. A chignon, bun, or French twist would compliment this theme, but if you don't want to wear an up-do, consider wearing longer hair in voluminous, loose curls tied back at the neckline.
For your make-up, choose a subtle smoky gray or brown eye look and go bold with your lips using a dark berry lipstick or lip stain. Use a sparkly but subtle rose blush to compliment your cheekbones. Carry a bouquet of blue flowers, such as hydrangeas, or a non-traditional bouquet fashioned of vintage styled buttons or feathers. For more ideas on non-traditional bridal bouquets, click here.
Dress your bridesmaids in light blue satin gowns and have them carry bouquets based around the same design that you chose for your bouquet. In other words, if you have a button and feather bouquet, the bridesmaids should also carry non-traditional bouquets.
