Ideas for How Shy People Should Promote Their AC Content

With the addition of the Associated Content (AC) page view bonus, we're all looking for new ways to promote our content. One obvious way to promote your content is to use internet forums to let others know what you've written about recently. However, not everyone is cut out to promote their AC content through forums. Some writers are too shy to join forums and are looking for others way to promote their content. There are some easy ways for everyone, even shy folks, to promote their content. Here are two ways for shy people to increase their AC page views through promoting their content.

One easy way for shy people to increase their page views is to link to their previously published article in their new articles. The "Additional Resources" section, which appears at the end of every article and is found on page 3 of the submission input process, is a great way to do this.

For example, I wrote an article titled "Create Your Own Grocery Savings Spreadsheet." Not everyone is interested in this topic, but those that are would most likely be interested in my other articles regarding coupon tips and other savings related topics. Therefore, I created a link to these articles in the Additional Resources section to give readers the opportunity to read related content which they will probably also find to be informative.

Another way for shy people to promote their content is to use social bookmarking sites. Let's face it, though - not all of us write articles which are Digg friendly. Netscape.com offers social bookmarking for those of us who want to share our articles with a broader audience that is not necessarily composed of men ages 25-34.

Feeding your articles to Netscape is easy to do. After your article is published on AC, go to "Bookmark This Page" at the bottom of the screen and choose the Netscape symbol (it's the green circle with an N). You'll have to join Netscape to do this, but that's also easy to do also (as with most social bookmarking websites, you'll have to give your email address to join).

With Netscape, you can look at what the "hot tags" are for the previous 24 hours (this is located on the right hand side of the webpage) and feed stories with tags that readers are looking for. Netscape allows you to see the number of people who have viewed your profile, which can give you a vague idea of how many people have looked at your content. Another benefit of feeding your articles to Netscape is that this feeds the articles to Google, which may help your articles to appear higher up on the Google results page.

Shy people can promote their content without joining forums or subjecting themselves to the sometimes tough Digg environment. These tips should allow you to increase your page views while keeping to yourself.

I'm not exactly shy about promoting my articles, but if I knew when I joined AC promotion and pageviews were up to me, I won't have bothered joining. I think the secret is simply to create a better "mousetrap". Not that yet another rehash about Paris Hilton~news easily gotten elsewhere~is a better one, but they seem to be what AC wants and promotes. I find the best articles on my own. I might try Netscape, but I think joining all these sites is what creates all that new spam.

I noticed that Digg was a little limited on its categories. Thanks for the hint about Netscape. I wasn't sure if it was worth my time or not, but I think I'll have to try it now.
