1. Check out free cds that are either music or audio books. If you are the type of person who doesn't like to read but just listen, go and see if they have the books on cd that you would want. If they don't have it, make a request for them to order it for free.
2. Videos. They have all kinds of videos whether it's for adults wanting to work out or learn about something or even something for kids, this is a good way to save even more money and once again, if they don't have a certain product of video, make a request. They would be more than happy to assist you with it.
3. Children. There are story times for toddlers and babies that are up to a year. In one of the local libraries where I am, there is a pajamarama story time there at 7PM pst. Instead of being at home with your non school age kids or the one where your preschooler goes to the afternoon one, take them there to hear all kinds of stories presented to them.
4. Reading programs. Prizes for this is what will attract kids that knows how to read. They don't just have summer reading program but there are other reading programs that encourages kids to read more. My own kids love books themselves so when I read to them, it's like a special treat for them.
5. Volunteers help with homework. Kids that need homework help are being used at some libraries and other places. In my case, there is one library currently doing that to help students with homework. There may be other libraries in my area doing that which I am not aware of. More than likely, they are.
6. Not just books being borrowed at the libraries but also magazines that are not the latest where it is labeled "reference." I borrow some before and if there are some that they don't have, make a request. That is also free to do and when it gets there,I don't think that they would let you borrow it right away. They usually reference the latest issues that they get. Ask the librarians when you are there.
7. SCORE to be used for free to get help on having your own business. You have to make an appointment with them first before you can do and see one. They are free to use because the people that are mentors are retired business owners that love to help others. Get their free handouts for your own use but decide what kind of business you are planning to get into and take their advice when needed as being able to help you.
For now, these are the ideas that are free to use when it comes to libraries. Take advantage of whatever reasons there is and learning stuff everyday is the key for lifelong learning. Hope that these are helpful to you as much as me doing this article.
