Identifying Child Molesters in Schools

Mark Mielke
The world is a dangerous place. Of course, that makes us parents worry about our children. We always have to worry about our children. It seems like they aren't safe anywhere today. Even in places where our children are supposed to be safe, such as schools, danger lurks around every corner. We have all heard the horror stories about students freaking out and bringing guns, knives, and other weapons to school to attack other students and disgruntled teachers with. And, of course, we have heard the other stories. The stories about the predators who hunt in schools. The monsters who stalk our children. The child molesters.

I do not write this article for profitable purposes, nor do I not know what I am talking about. I am sorry to say that this is a subject with which I am all too familiar. When I was in high school, we had a math teacher and baseball coach who was found to be a child molester. You understand, of course, that I cannot give his name. Neither can I give the names of his victims, for the sake of their privacy. Anyhow, this teacher was accused by a student of molestation almost twenty five years ago. Since then, he has been accused by three more students. None of these people knew each other. He was even found to be connected to the suicide of one of the students. He still has not been convicted, for reasons unknown to me.

When we as people are told a story, like the one I just told you, we begin to worry about what might be happening that we have no idea about. Obviously you may worry about your own children and their relationships with possible predators at school. The teacher in the story I just told had certain tell-tales about him that you can use to help spot other monsters like him. He was always close to students, knowing more about their personal lives than most teachers do. He couldn't keep his hands off of them, even in class, and he was always rubbing their shoulders, an act not considered unusual. Finally, shy and withdrawn students were uncomfortable around him. I assume that is because they had experienced his true nature.

Of course, as with any situation, one must keep an open mind when things like these occur. It has been found on far more than one occasion that a student will lie about their teachers to get them in trouble. That even happened at my old school once or twice. Remember to get the entire story before you start passing judgments.

Child molesters, stalkers, and sexual predators are very cunning and sly. They know to choose professions that will get them close to their prey, such as teachers with students. You must always be on constant guard to make sure that one of these creatures is not stalking your child at school. The signs are unmistakable. Are you prepared to face those signs?
