Ann Grant
Warts are very common skin disorder that can affect anyone at any stage of their life. Most warts are harmless and they are actually a lot more common than people think, most people however find them unsightly and want to get them removed. Before you go running to the doctoral or surgeon however, you should try to find out if you really do have warts and exactly what type of wart it is. This could save you hundreds and even though since of dollars on your medical bills and can help to inform and a nice venue the next time that you see are raised area on your skin that you think may be a wart.

There are many different types of warts and the most common is the aptly named common warts. The common warts are generally found among the hands, fingers and feet. These warts are never found alone and often occur in patches or clusters. The common warts are hard to the touch and have a rough texture. These warts commonly occur on skin where there are bruises or areas of broken skin (such as areas of recent trauma or areas that sustain heavy usage).

Another very common type of wart seen in many children is planter warts and is found though on people of many different age groups. These warts are commonly found around the feet though they may occur in any area of the human body. The planter warts occur singly and this quality distinguishes them from the aforementioned common warts. A distinguishing feature of the planter wart is that they grow inward (due to their locations) rather than outwards like most other warts and are especially painful and uncomfortable.

Flat warts are another common wart found on the human body and generally occur in very large groups or patches. The distinguishing quality of most flat warts that enable their identification is that they are very soft and squishy to the touch while most other types of warts are hard, rough and painful. Many people who shave specific areas of their body often (such as their underarms) often experience flat or plain warts in these areas.

Genital warts are another common type of warts that are becoming increasingly prevalent in young adolescents as they begin having sexual encounters at earlier ages. Your young teen or tween is at risk from contracting genital herpes once they are engaging in kissing or any other sexual activity. Genital warts are officially classified as a sexually transmitted disease and are spread even through condom protected intercourse since it is a skin condition and skin to skin contact will transfer the warts. Genital warts are generally the hardest type of warts to have removed sine they occur in a sensitive area (the genitals and the pubic area).

Most warts can be removed at home through over the counter and prescription medications but depending on where they are located, it may be best to contact a doctor, nurse or any healthcare professional to determine all your treatment options and to prevent passing the warts (such as genital warts)to other people and lower the number of outbreaks.
