Idioms

Day Sixty-One

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
The Cambridge Dictionary of Idioms
Tells us there are more,
Than seven thousand idioms,
Since the Peloponnesian War!

I grew up in a family,
Where they used these terms at will.
They'd hoist a few with the best of them,
Cross their fingers and fill the bill.

They'd let sleeping dogs lie,
Keep their noses to the grindstone,
If they rubbed someone the wrong way,
They'd leave well enough alone!

LOL at Langley--I'm a transplanted Yankee, and I still derive a lot of entertainment from the, uh, vernacular. :)
