Idlewild Park is surrounded by trees which keep the park nice and cool, and shaded. The lines are not long, and even if you have to stand in line it's really not that hot. They have the usual amusement park rides like the Ferris wheel, and the Merry-go-round and the whip. These rides have been there for many years. Idlewild Park still has a wooden rollercoaster. It's not high or that scary, but still thrills many children that ride it. There is a steam engine train that will take you around the perimeter of the park, which is a nice slow ride that you can share time with your children.
There is a park for the younger children there, Raccoon Lagoon, which has the rides for the little ones that is spectacular. It is reported that this is one the largest kiddie land in all the parks. Kids will have a great time there with so many different rides just for them. It's a park within a park. They have little boats that children can ride in the ride that kids like was the hand car ride where they go along a track by using a hand crank to move along the tracks. There are rides that will thrill even the youngest riders.
For older children and adults there are many games on the main streets that you can test your skills. If you skills are good enough you will win prizes. There is also the old west part of the park where you can go to Confusion Hill, where balls will roll uphill in front of your eyes. There are many illusions in Confusion Hill. It's a popular attraction there.
Idlewild Park also offers many picnic areas for you to stop and eat if you don't want to eat at one of their many restaurants there. It's quiet, family oriented park. If you ever get a chance to take your family here, you will not regret it, it's a great place to visit.
