If I Could

Lee Davis
If I could, I would have a long conversation with my Dad. He was funny and usually had some type of entertainment gig going. Dad bordered on the ridiculous most of the time. What a character. I love him.

If I could, I would give Mom her physical skills and abilities lost with her recent stroke. She loved to talk almost more than me. Her people skills were the best, and she knew how to get the job done. While speech therapy continues and I await my miracle, things will stay as they are. She is content, and has no idea we do not fully understand her.

If I could, I would fly to Rome. I would lie on heavenly beds of clover, listen to timeless music of the hills and see with opened eyes all the city's majestic beauty. I would visit art museum venues for joy, fulfillment of dreams and pleasured compensation for my soul.

If I could, I would throw snowballs, build snowmen and make snow angels. What fun that must be. A sleek sled of glistening platinum with diamond-trimmed accessories would guide me softly. For warmth, blankets of cashmere bouquets would surround me. Golden goblets of hot rum would bid me welcome to a warm hearth.

If I could, I would travel to Malaysia to the village studied in my fourth grade geography book. I would stroll through the high trees where no sun shines through, see the rubber tree plants and move with the villagers to survive the monsoons.

If I could, I would climb Mt. Everest, stand atop the Hawaiian volcanoes, air glide through the Grand Canyon, fish in Maine and skip across the Florida Keys. I would take a space ride, go down as far as possible in my pink submarine and enjoy nature's one-of-a-kind colors.

If I could, I would share my happiness with you. I would eliminate your fears, soften your heart, inspire your inner strengths and encircle you with friendship. I would do all that is within me to make you happy and thankful. My friends; I would.
