If I Could Be Anything

A Valentine's Day Lyric-Poem

Khara E. House
If I could be anything
I would be your diamond ring
But stones are lost and bands turn brass
And you're still mean, and I'm still crass
Yes, you're like fire through my grass
And worldly things weren't meant to last

If I could have you as my toy
I'd make you my dancing boy
I would make you spin and twirl
But as your dancing song unfurled
I'd find myself caught in the whirl
Yes, I'd become your dancing girl

If I could have your every word
Oh, I would be your mockingbird
And if you whispered I love you
Well, here's exactly what I'd do
With only me and you in view
I'd whisper back I love you too

If I was yours and you were mine
I'd wish to stop the world in time
But with an end to all our days
There'd be a mighty price to pay
I'd lose my chance to ever say
I love you now, and will always

If I could be anything
I would be your wedding ring
I'd wrap my love around your hand
And with me as your wedding band
I'd be your girl, and you my man
I'd be your girl, and you my man
If I could be anything
