If I Die Before I Wake

Anne Heyns
If I die before I wake

If you were the air I breathe
I'd breathe another day
for your sweet lips, I do believe
can take my pain away
If you were all my eyes could see
and all my ears could hear
content with you my heart would be
I'd never have another fear
If your soft touch against my skin
was all that I could feel
then I'd not care if it was sin
to believe that this is real
If your luscious scent filled the air
my burdens all would cease
For knowing that you once were there
will put my mind at ease.

If I die before I wake
hear these whispers I now make
should I leave the ones I love
set your eyes up above
for as an angel I will be
with you for eternity
If the days grow dark and cold
you feel that you are getting old
As time itself goes slipping by
each second closer to the day you die
If life starts to lose its glow
there's something you should always know
I loved you from the day we met
and your love I will never forget!
