If You Don't Want to Get Hit by a Bus- Watch "Hawaii 5-0"!

A Brewster Smythe
It was a bright, sunny day and the female assassin had just been eyeballed by the various members of the "Hawaii Five-O" unit. McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) yells at her to keep her hands in the air! She brings out a gun instead and starts firing in a crowded mall area. Each cop begins pursuit, while the female assassin keeps shooting. She is so caught up in shooting in the crowd, in fact, and trying to hit one of the members of the Hawaii Five-O police unit- that she doesn't see the enormous, green bus that is speeding along and fragments her body upon impact.

McGarrett walks up to her, kneels down, and states the obvious, "She's dead!" And, the rollercoaster ride that is "Hawaii Five-O" begins!

I had been dragging my feet concerning this remake of the classic, 1968- 1980 "Hawaii Five-O" that starred the late Jack Lord. But, my sister just kept at me to watch it. I told her I had enough on my plate watching all these "Law and Order: SVU" shows, and "the Good Wife". I mean really good drama! "Hawaii Five-O", the remake, well, I just didn't see how it could ever be as good as the original.

I was dead wrong! No pun intended!

If anything, it is better. The same theme music from the original "Hawaii Five-O" starts off the show , which, if you are an old babe like me brings back a certain type of nostalgia. The cast is brilliant eye candy, beginning with Alex O'Loughlin as McGarrett, and Scott Caan as Danny Williams. Even better than the cast, though, is the eye-popping, get in your face police work, and methods that had me laughing like crazy. Let's face it, seeing Bronchon Pinchot tied to the front of a cop car in order to coerce him into spilling the beans about an area drug lord is probably not anything we would see on a" Law and Order" or "CSI"- but it sure is fun to watch!

The twelve seasons of the original "Hawaii Five-O" were a brilliant combination of police work with the ambiance of sultry Hawaii to add a touch of the exotic to the viewing audience.

This remake of "Hawaii Five-O" is exciting, touching, and bursting at the seams with personality plus. Something makes me think that Jack Lord is looking down upon it all and smiling.
