Matt Giraud Explodes on American Idol!

Carol Khela
On April 28, 2009, American Idol's final five contestants went at it once again! They competed under the genre of Rat Pack themed music. For Matt Giraud, he chose "My Funny Valentine". Jamie Foxx was the mentor for this set and gave Matt very good suggestions. Matt was so shocked to see Jamie get right up into his face as he made Matt sing for him. It appeared to have paid off for him when he got on the stage and sang. Matt commanded our attention as he donned his sexy, rat-packy hat, and rasped out those interesting tones in his voice. He belted out what I believe to be one of his best performances to date. It is amazing to me how someone who was voted off a few weeks ago has consistently beaten the odds. His performances, after being saved by the judges' one and only save, have been fantastic and surprising.

We always knew Matt had it in him but to watch him perform so well just goes to show you that they made a good judgment call when they saved him. He seemed so confident as he strutted himself across the stage. He made a great connection with the audience and held everyone's attention to the very end. His attire was perfect for this particular genre and song and he came off as very confident to say the least. Matt appears to know who he is, where he is and where he is going. At this point, the remaining five are so very talented, that I do not believe it actually matters who ends up the American Idol. Each one of them, including Matt, will be signed on for record deals and who knows what else! They are probably the best group the Idol has every seen.
