The first thing would be to schedule time for yourself. Get an organizer or dust off the one that you have that you do not use, and note down three days out of the week that you have at least one hour to yourself. Use this our two go on a walk, a run, a jog, a bike ride, or do some basic exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks etc.. Even if you only do it for 30 minutes of that hour, it's a start. The key is not to let yourself off the hook and go sit down at the TV.
You don't have to be a member at your local gym. The body gets a workout doing things we don't look at as exercise. A great example of this is shopping. Walking around the mall or even your local grocery store for 30 minutes to one hour is a workout. Walking up and down the stairs at home can be a workout. Walking the dog or going for bike ride is a workout. Though you may not sweat like you would in the gym, every little bit adds up. Of course, if you choose to walk up and down the stairs at home, or something that can be as boring, listening to some music on your iPod will help.
As with everything you want to achieve you need to set some kind of goals. Set times, set a routine, set how many pound you possibly want to lose, and stick with it. Makes your your goals are realistic. Remember that every little bit adds up. So instead of setting a goal to lose 25 pounds by the end of the month, make it five to ten pounds by the end of the month. Keep a record of your results as it will motivate you to keep going.
If you're the kind of person that needs some guidance and can't afford workout videos or DVD's, go online and start watching free fitness videos. Most of the fitness videos you'll find online are demonstrations of things you can do at home. If you cannot workout where your computer is at, then take notes and go wherever you have enough space to perform the workout's. Again you do not need to have a gym membership to do this.
Being a busy business professional or having a full-time job with kids and other responsibilities is no excuse to not being able to get fit. The determination to get and maintain fitness is the number one thing you must have to be successful. Schedule three days out of the seven-day week that you can have at least an hour to yourself, and get started. You do not have to have a gym membership or fitness equipment to do this. Non-traditional exercises or even basic exercises are enough to get you on your way to fitness or to maintain your already fit body. Make sure you set realistic goals for yourself and if you don't know where to start or can't afford expensive workout videos, find free videos online. Stop making excuses as they are monuments of nothing and will get you nothing.
