If You like Football in Any Way, You'll Enjoy This!

I Guarantee It, or Your Money Back

Caleb Rule
I said this was a massive post....hope you enjoy reading! First off, the NFL:

-So....anybody else consider the San Diego Chargers as NOT one of the AFC "Big Four" teams? Yeah, I see all those hands.

-But I'm not taking anything away from the Viking running game. One does not gain an absurd amount of yardage without an amazing effort from his O-line. Steaks all around to that group! Great job of showing what you can do, though, Mr. Adrian Peterson.

-Great game from the Colts-Patriots....at least in entertainment value. On paper, it wasn't so hot. Too many penalties called, and although a couple were by-the-book calls, common sense says those SHOULDN'T be flagged. Like when the defender is looking all ball and inadvertently trips over the receiver...of course he glanced at the receiver at some point! Oh well.

-For once, Tom Brady won't lead all fantasy contributors. Imagine that. And he won't next week either...isn't he on a bye?

-Laurence Maroney is officially back...

-How about Brett Farve? 7-1 at this point in the season? Here's my feel-good story of the NFL, besides the Browns/Lions surprising everybody and Buffalo's TE recovering. You think Ryan Grant is happy to have the starting gig at RB now? L-U-C-K-Y break, but it happens and we'll see what he does with it.

-Speaking of the Lions....6-2? Maybe that defense isn't nearly as bad as we all thought.

-Speaking of the Browns (why is there no brown color available to edit with?!?!)...if that defense shapes up in any way, they could be playoff contenders. But right now they're like a pro form of Louisville.

-Denver, welcome to the arena of the fallen.

-Atlanta won its second game....so, is Petrino happy or mad about that? Is Brian Brohm slipping through his fingers? Personally, I'd rather have Andre Woodson anyway. But get an O-line that can block consistently well first....otherwise it doesn't matter, right?

-Tampa Bay figured out that hey, Earnest Graham should be heavily involved with the offense. And look, another win. Imagine that.

-Poor Philadelphia. But Tony Romo racked me up some TSAP on Three-for-all! And TO burns 'em again.

-Vince Young is officially not the greatest thing since sliced bread. And he's not a good fantasy QB option, either. Just a thought.

-Anybody wondering where the heck the Saints came from? Talk about a rebound. They scare me. Put 'em up against ANYONE right now and they'll compete. The defense is fantastic against the run, and suddenly Drew Brees looks like last year.

-Interesting view from a friend (Matt, this would be you): The reason why Joesph Addai is that much better than Reggie Bush is his ability to keep moving forward. Bush is more athletic, but Addai can avoid a tackle and get positive yards, whereas Bush sidesteps and gives defenders that split-second of extra time to close in. Can't say I disagree.

And now, some college football thoughts:

-Connecticut is now in my top 10. Yeah, you heard me. I'm copy/pasting my top 10 from the comment I left over on mojomike's post on his top 10. Send in your vote and see how all us TSN members are voting!

The top 10:

"1.) Oregon- THEY are the best team in the nation right now. But that defense has some problems. Best offense award goes to the Ducks, though.

2.) Ohio State- can't rank 'em lower until they prove otherwise, but I don't think they're the best team in the nation. And I don't see how anyone can really justify ranking the Buckeyes lower than 3rd. And anyone who compares OSU to Hawaii? That cupcake eater team? Please...

3.) LSU- Playing through the SEC is always an edge, and now any team from the East is a threat. The defense is still great, it's the offense that doesn't help out too much it seems. I don't care how many they dropped on Alabama, I don't believe in this offense. But they find ways to win.

4.) Oklahoma- Very dangerous, and that bye week seemed to help. We'll see what happens.

5.) West Virginia- They aren't screwing up, that's for sure.

6.) Arizona State- Like you said, they're still a great football team. I think they beat USC.

7.) Missouri- They could be much higher, I know. I just want to see some tougher tests. They hung well with Oklahoma, playing Kansas will show some true colors.

8.) Boston College- They've been exposed a bit, but the offense is still good and the defense is decent.

9.) Michigan- Yep, still climbing the polls. They just have to pray they don't run into another spread attack.

10.) Connecticut- That's right, I said it. I think they could beat Georgia if they played. The Huskies have been solid if nothing else, and keep finding ways to pull it out. Once they play West Virginia, we'll see what happens. But this is the BCS nightmare scenario for this season now."

Note: I added another comment below this one, because I originally had OSU #1 and Oregon #2. I decided to switch 'em and stay with my gut. Just for the record!

-I went 4-3 this past weekend on my picks. Missed with my Alabama upset, Wake winning, and South Florida proving they haven't fallen too far. Oh well.

-Anybody else slightly disappointed in the ASU-Oregon game? I was hoping for more offense from the Sun Devils. In retrospect, how much credit should be given to the Duck defense? I don't know. I'm still not that confident in 'em. But the offense is insane.

-Dadgumit, BC. Way to screw up our hopes of the small schools making a statement. It's all up to you, Connecticut....

-I hate pansie weekends. Thank you, SEC...

-Kansas-Nebraska was ridiculous. NOW who wants to talk about running up a score? But I'm not knocking the Jayhawks one bit. When you're up against the worst defense in the nation (yeah, the team who historically was KNOWN for their D!), no one can fault you. Because the opposition is that bad.

So, that's all I've got for today. Hopefully you've enjoyed a weekend full of football as much I did. Have a great day and be sure to check out more great writing on the right of this page!
