My favorite all-time art blog is An Artist's Journal by Martha Marshall. Martha has been posting on her blog for years and she is a veteran artist. Her style tends toward contemporary abstract as well. In her blog she tells everything! Martha tells what goes right and what goes wrong. She has experimented with aging paper by placing in under a cover of leaves outside to let it weather naturally and then she uses the weathered paper in her mixed media works. She also makes fabulous acrylic skins which she then uses in her works as well. If you haven't signed up for Martha's blog, go ahead and sign-up right away!
I must include T. Korber, who utilizes her Facebook page as her blog to display her art, talk to fans and keep us all up to date with what's going on because she is both the Curator of Art Nouveau Events & Palm Beach Art & Music and an avid artist. You will want to friend her on Facebook to see the amazing way she has mastered and captured the human form! It's awesome to be able to interact with this very talented artist!
Another artist who uses the Facebook platform for her blog as opposed to the traditional blog form is Michel Keck. I believe Michel Keck and T. Korber use the Facebook platform for their blogs is because they get closer and more active contact with their fans. Also, they can get messages about their shows much quicker and to a more vast audience who they already know love their work and are very likely to show up for their exhibitions. When you click on Michel's blog on her main store page it takes you to her Facebook page. Michel Keck is a contemporary abstract artist who started selling her work on Ebay and now has a huge store full of original paintings and giclees. Michel also offers to do commissioned works.
Facebook clearly seems to have somewhat overtaken the traditional blog form! Another one of my favorite artists uses Facebook as his blog platform. Matt Sesow shows his paintings, comments on shows and speaks to his fans. Matt has made an incredible name as an Neo-Outsider Artist. His paintings are raw and real and many have political ties. Even if Neo-Outsider work isn't your cup f tea, you must take a look at Matt's work because he's truly amazing!
Finally, Dion Hitchings uses his GALA page as his blog. Dion is a Neo-Outsider as well and has completed works such as Tiger's Twelve Days Of Mistresses and a series of Nuns in peculiar states of being. He has also completed Indian works and self-portraits. Dion's paintings involve electrifying, bright and bold colors and he uses markers and crayons.
In conclusion, I hope that you have enjoyed your look into my hobby and will come away from this article with an appreciation of art and some super blog pages of some great contemporary artists. What is your hobby? You could start a blog about it on any platform and get some interaction from people who have the same hobby as yours and wish to share their work. Blogging is a fantastic way to get feedback from your friends and fans on your hobby!
