This question is one of the questions we ask ourselves just about everyday, whether we know God's will for our lives or not. If you do know , you will still ask yourself what does God want you to do because every day you are faced with challenges, decisions to make, etc.etc.
As I was wondering about my own life, I looked at my passions and analyzed what I spend most of my day doing and I learned alot about myself. I realized that my passion was there where most of my time was spent... Now, I am not saying that for most of us that is true. Most of us feel trapped between our jobs and our passion; between what we do and what we would really like to do( I am not talking about sitting in front of TV all day...that is just oure laziness).
But, if you had all the money you needed, what would that free you up to do? If you answered that question, then you have your answer: THAT is what you were created to do.
Now you need to ask God to help you get out slowly from doing what you were NOT created to do and show you how to be the person He created you; show you how to reach your dream.
You know what the other neat thing is? In Romans 12:7-8 says something like this, "If God created you to do something, go do it. Keep doing it. Do it all the time. Do it with all your heart. Do it with joy". God wants you to do what you do with joy. If there is no joy my friend, you are in the wrong field. And did you hear? In verse 7 it says that whatever you were called to do, keep at it. Called by who? By your lack of money? By your family By your boss? No. By God.
People really made a mess out this word, "called". They use it so easily in the church circle and only with the meaning of " calling to minister". "Ministry", by the way is just another word for "serving". You don't have to be a pastor or a deacon to minister.God created accountant, sales people, teachers, etc. They all serve aka minister.
In Romans 8:28 says that we were all called according to HIS purpose. We were ALL called. Romans 12:7 says, whatever God called you to do, or created you to be, do it. It is not an option. It is a command. Remember the parable with the talents? They each received something. One received 2, the other 5, and the other 10 talants. And each had to bring back something and 2 of them brought back exactly the same amount they got. I think that is the minimum.
But one of them just hid the talant and just brought it back like he got it. Did not produce nothing with it. And the master did not like that. In fact took away what he had even. How cruel, right? No!
God created you as you are because He has a purpose( Romans 8:28). Its His purpose, not yours. In order to accomplish it, He needed someone like you. How can He accomplish His purpose though IF you are not doing anything with what He gave you, but are hiding who you are or not liking who you are? Remember, it is for His purpose and He will help you do it with joy. I honestly believe that when you start doing who He created you, joy will spring up like a river.
It is not an option to be who He called you. He created you because He needs you, so why are you wasting your time and hiding who you are? You want to be treated one day like that man who hid the talant and said, " Well, I was afraid. Here it is, what you gave me. Just get what is yours". Jesus did not tell us these parables to make us feel good, but He was giving us an insight in how the Kingdom of God operates. Or are we those kind of people He talked to, but did not understand, heard His voice, but never heard?
It is a command to act on who He designed you. Stop playing around and wasting time by being something He did not purpose.
Ask yourself the question again, " If money was no object, what would I do with my life ?" THAT is who He put inside of you to be and I know that if you obey Him and act according to what He purposed you to be, He will bless you.
See, the ones that went out and did something with their talant were blessed; double blessings they had. The one that just put away who he was and hid who he was, never got more back. He never prospered. He saved up what he had, but never got more back. Why because only when you go out there and do something with what you have and who you are, you will prosper and produce.
The master did not require the one with 5 talants to bring 10, neither the 10 to bring 20; each one brought back exactly double. It makes me think that for each gift, talant, talent, penny you have, you will give an account. For each one we have to produce at least one.
So, now that you know what He really created you to do, how are you going to obey and start doing that?
This really speaks to me, too. It makes me think. It changes my view of my own life. I believe even today I will make a decision to not waste my time anymore being someone I am not, but obey God by being and producing who He created me to be and what He wants me produce.
