It felt like I was getting lost,
allowing you to lead.
You are such a shining star,
that it would be impossible not to see.

But there was never
anyway that you and I could leave.
For there was no room inside your world
for a quiet poet to just be.

My heart longs for the simple days
in that city by the sea,
where you and I loved each other
and wrote a simple melody.

We got so lost
it was such a joy
together you and me.

I miss those days
alone with you
if only we could be.

But your path was set
and the people watched,
as you started to fill a need.
What they expected for your life,
