If You Pay Child Support....Thank You!

Cathy McNett
For the Fathers and Mothers who pay there Child Support faithfully month after month. Thank You!

Today's child support system does not care if parents use children as pawns, or even if the support-paying parent is taking on more responsibility than a visitation requires, nor does the system care if the support money is being used as an asset to the children or an asset to the custodial parents life style.

Today's child support system does not look at the human or emotional links of father, mother and children, it simply looks at a dollar and cent bottom line, and in the process the child support system is breaking its own laws, in other words; the laws seem to allow an inadvertent penalty with the by-product worsening and/or kindling new problems.

Federal Government does not allow the Non Custodial parent to claim the children he is paying child support for, the Custodial parent gets to claim them and if there income is bellow the Earned Income Credit level then they receive thousands of dollars for each child. The Custodial parent does not have to claim the child support received as income on Federal taxes.

Custodial parents who are receiving Child Support and Medical Coverage, are also allowed to receive Welfare benefits,Food Stamps,Medicaid, etc.

If you receive Shared Custody after the Child Support order has taken effect, you have to hire an attorney, pay court cost to have the amount reduced. Child Support Enforcement does not look at this change, until this is done.

Paying Non Custodial Parent's and there children are suffering financially, and emotionally because of Law's passed for Dead Beat Parents.

Child Support Guidelines are not fair, the laws intact for Child support, Federal Taxes, and Welfare programs need to be changed so that both parents will be able to continue there role's as parents without the financial burden's being placed on the Non Custodial Parent.

I agree. I am a non custodial parent and I have paid my child support and then I was garnished money from my salary for no reason? NO REASON!?

I pay out 1,000 a month and I dont get to claim daycare which i pay for in my child support.....i dont get to have them added to my taxes.....i dont get a child tax credit...yet I pay way more for the child than my ex. if that is the case then my child is receiving over 1,800 a month after taxes.....how is that correct? What can you spent that on?

If I dont pay I go to jail. There is no help and I have no rights. Also how dare they tell me I cannot quit my job and get another because if it is lower paying I will still have to pay the same amount which i cannot afford....it is slavery!!! How can this be right!?!?!?

Good points, but I can not relate. My daughter's father last paid $2.46 almost 9 months ago. Who can I turn to? (I wrote about it on AC. It's been published under "Memoirs".)

My husband pays his child support with no problem. He has five children with his ex wife. He also buys them shoes, clothes, gets them hair cuts..etc. we are now paying for the oldest to go to college. I use to be one of those people who would fight for the mom with the kids. I think you should have to prove you are paying for things for your child or children.

Thank you for the post. You are 100% correct. The laws just get worse. Texas has just passed a Senate Bill that not only takes 20% of Net for one child, but allows the courts to collect up to 100% of the needs of the child, if the Net Income of the NCP is 2K or lower a month. My perfect credit, savings, 401K and everything else I had for my own child, has already been used up by my husband's ex as revenge...we now battle to make ends meet and feel that soon we could lose our house...while we have a child with special needs. But the courts do not care about that. Only about the child for which he pays child support...by the way, he's always paid, on time and full for 12+ years.
