If Tiger Woods Isn't Playing, No Need to Watch: A Fan's Opinion

Kathy Foust

I admit it, I'm a golf fan out of envy. I can't even connect with a ball sitting on a tee, so I'm always impressed when someone shows some true skill in the game. But, if I'm going to watch grown men chase a little ball around acres of fairway, you can bet I won't be doing it if Tiger Woods isn't playing. Golf is a skill I have yet to aquire or really develop a personal interest in, but I can't help but have some respect for a man who has made a career out of a game he's been playing since he was a child.

Tiger Woods makes golf sexy

Tiger Woods is the only golfer I've seen who brings a sexual reputation to the golf course. While I'm sure it doesn't make his wife feel any better about the situation, his sexual exploits are probably the only way golf was ever going to be sexy. You just have to give a man credit for that.

Why waste time watching anyone but the best

No one can deny that Tiger Woods has skills. If I'm going to spend my day watching the major golf championships. I want to watch the best in action.

You never know what's going to happen

When a man can make golf sexy, you just never know what else he can do for the game of golf. I don't even care if he wins or not. I just want to see if anything interesting will happen.

There is some educational value

My 10 year old son has an avid interest in golf. Since I have no golf skills myself, I'm left to use whatever means necessary to encourage my son's interest. If he's going to watch a professional in action, it never hurts for it to be one who began golfing at an even younger age than my son. I think it brings an element of hope to a child when they can observe the success of someone who started fine tuning their skills as a child.

When there's nothing else on television, Tiger Woods is a great target for adult humor

Again, Tiger Woods brings a new element to golf. Before him, I might laugh at the plaid pants. Now, I get to laugh at the idea that a professional like Tiger Woods actually had such lame excuses for his unbridled lust. On the other hand, some professional golfers are so snooty, it's refreshing to see one who notadmits to his flaws, but acts on them even living in the public eye.

I agree. While Tiger has had some "problems" in the past few years, he is still an outstanding golfer.
