If We Simply Accept Ourselves for Whom and What We Are, How Will We Ever Accomplish Anything?
My Motto: The Only True Failure is the Failure to Try
No offense people, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but if we did nothing but accept ourselves for who we are and did not push each other to improve and succeed we would still be trying to hunt with rocks, living in caves, and you most certainly would not have the technology to read this article.
You must have a dream and set goals, both personal and professional, and then map out a path to achieve those goals and your dream. You do need to be ready to adapt along the way, and understand that your results may not be exactly the same as the next person, but that is because we are all individuals. It would be a very boring world if we were all exactly the same.
You must refuse to buy into the "its ok to be fat and lazy", and the "the world owes it to me so I don't have to earn it" ideas that seem to be going around our country these days. You cannot have a deep down good feeling about yourself if you live this way. You can make a difference in yourself and everyone around you by simply taking charge of your own life. Don't just let things happen, make things happen! The only true failure that you can really have is the failure to try.
Tired of being overweight? Set a goal. Take little steps and accept that getting this way took time, and it will take time and effort to correct it. Start by shutting off the television or computer for just 1 hour a day. Go for a walk, a bicycle ride, or make something up to get yourself active. You know that large bottle of weight loss pills you bought that never worked? Dump them all on the floor and then pick each one up, one single pill at a time and place it back in the bottle while leaving the bottle on the counter top. Chase your kid around the couch. Carry your laundry downstairs one piece at a time. Do not exercise one day, weigh yourself the next, and give up! The only true failure is the failure to try.
You do not have to be a CEO or a big shot manager in a famous organization to feel good about who you are and what you do. Just do the best job you can and then throw in a little extra. Do a job that you can be proud of and you will feel better about who you are. Do you mop floors for a living? Be the best damn floor cleaner you can be! Take an extra minute and scrape up that piece of gum. Study and learn what the most effective methods are for cleaning the types of floors that you work with and apply what you learn.
Don't take what you have not earned and you will feel good about yourself. Take that extra step and be the best that you can be, and others will notice. Some will naturally want to take advantage of you for it, but do not let that deter you. You are being the best for you, and not for them. Some will see that you can do it, and they will want to do it too.
You can touch people in extraordinary ways by simply striving to feel good about yourself. When they see you making a difference in your own life, they will begin to believe that they can change their life for the better too. You can create a ripple in the world around you by believing that the only true failure is the failure to try.
