If I Were Charles Gibson, What Would I Ask Sarah Palin?

ABC's Charles Gibson Will Interview GOP Vice Presidential Running Mate Sarah Palin on Thursday

There are so many questions that go through my head when I think of what Charles Gibson has to go through in his interview with GOP Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin.

I mean, let's face it: We haven't heard too much from her, but her face has been plastered all over the media outlets.

Palin's introduction to the nation seemed more like a resume for "Here's why I think I can do this."

Not that I'm complaining, but I did feel that she didn't step out on her best. However, she did punch somewhat hard in her RNC acceptance speech.

So what would I ask her if I were Charles? Might as well not hold back. If this is the year of change, we as Americans should have reasons to why we should change from the norms of what people know.

First and foremost, I'd ask, "What have you done to convince the nation that you're more than a pretty face?" Many people are waiting to hear her views on foreign policy and the economy. These are issues you can't wait too long on. You have to strike the fire while it's hot, not when it's simmering and I do feel that's what's going on with her. She hasn't stepped to the major media networks. (Yeah, I don't count People Magazine)

In response I'm sure she would lean back on her roots and her record in Alaska. It's typical but it needs to be heard.

Afterward, I'd have to follow with the question of "What's your plan for getting over the media hype about your influence as a female candidate in this race?"

Let's face it. This country has flipped upside down because of her. The Palin effect has been so strong that she's pretty much dominated the airtime that was usually reserved for an Obama moment. The media has practically made the election more Palin vs. Obama than McCain vs. Obama.

I would hope that she would have a plan to prove herself more than just being a female in this race because right now, the most she's done is piggyback McCain and look pretty. Sandra Palin appears to have more to offer the GOP if they'd let her speak on solid substance and not talking points.

If she's to convince America to vote for her because she would be a great vice president and not because she's a woman, then she needs to come out the political dugout ready to swing for the fences. That's the type of response I'm sure she would give.

Finally I'd finish hard with a harsh question to try and make her show her colors and ask something like, "Do you feel that your presence in this race has given Hillary supporters and those voters who have vowed not to vote for an African-American man another choice---More like exchanging one minority for another?"

Why? Because that's what it looks like. It seems that the majority of white women who have reportedly began to swing McCain's way have finally got a way out of being called a racist for not supporting the Obama ticket. They can now say "I'm supporting the first GOP female vice-presidential choice because I want to see a woman progress."

This is where she will probably hail herself as making a way for women everywhere in the U.S.A, which is fine because role models are needed in this day and age. She'll probably talk about the struggles of women and minorities in this country and spin it by saying how great it is to have such diversity in this year's election.

In closing, for many voters, Sandra Palin will be nothing more than an exit strategy. They won't care if she knows the issues or not, while others will come to the conclusion that she's nothing more than a GOP publicity stunt that could go horribly wrong if she has no substance. But for some voters, she will compliment McCain well as a vice president if he were elected president.

If I were Charles Gibson (thank God I am not), I would ask Sarah Palin's forgiveness for pulling my glasses down to the end of my nose thinking that that would make me more intelligent, and being the complete and utter fool that I was for making it so obvious that I represented the liberal rot of the Media Ministers of Propaganda.

I'm not a Palin fan but his interview with Palin really pissed me off. It was so obvious he was out to get her. Even my wife, who is a Democrat could see right through it.

I'm horrified that she will end up anywhere near the White House

She's dangerous. Her little joke about Obama "reading terrorists their rights" was funny, but also creepy. Are we to assume she things people held in the custody of the state should not be made aware of their rights? That's what we're doing, more, in this "war on terrorism"? We're getting used to not knowing our rights. Also, what do either GOP candidate plan to do about the economy that seems to be not only falling into a recession, but into a kind of capitalist collapse?
