If I Were President. .

Benjamin Ira Mikell

As I continue to observe the current campaigns for the next President of the United States and listen to some of the things they plan to do, I decided to come up with some ideas on what I would do if I were President. These things are from my observations through the years, learning from history, and what is found within the word of God. There are many things I would do, but this list is not a complete list. It is my firm belief that a majority of these items we agree are the right thing to do. It is my hope and prayer that the current candidates will embrace any or most of these ideas. To put this more in context, I am doing a similar thing to what Neal Boortz has done on his radio show. Please note that, of course, I am not running for President or any office. I am simply conveying my thoughts on what should be done in order to help restore America and make this a better place to live, work, worship, and raise a family.

  1. Reduce the size of government.
  2. Make a major reduction in the pay and benefits enjoyed by congressional leaders, including the President and Vice-President of the United States.
  3. Repeal Roe vs. Wade.
  4. Make abortion illegal and equal to the laws governing murder.
  5. Replace the current tax codes and laws with the fair tax.
  6. Allow more drilling of oil in our own country, speed up the paperwork process to build new wells, reopen older, closed wells, and reduce dramatically our dependance upon foreign oil.
  7. Reduce the taxes for businesses in order for them to bring jobs back to this country and hire new workers.
  8. Abolish the Environmental Protection Agency.
  9. Abolish the U.S. Department of Education and allow the states to make their own decisions for educating students as well as across state lines.
  10. Repeal ObamaCare.
  11. Restructure and modernize Social Security.
  12. Promote the return of the reading of the Bible and prayers in the schools.
  13. Use the line-item-veto to remove all erroneous and wasteful spending.
  14. Pass an unrepealable law that promotes the Biblical teaching that marriage is between one man and one woman only.
  15. Bring the cost of goods and services to what they were prior to WWI, prices that are affordable for everyone and help the economy to grow tremendously.
  16. Make the sale of liquor and tobacco illegal.
  17. Reform the prison systems by doing things such as removing weight equipment and other privileges such as watching television. In addition, to only allow barbers to shave inmates one at a time instead of giving them razors they could use as weapons against each other.
  18. Make all of the Bush tax cuts permanent.
  19. Amend the constitution to add an amendment that prohibits the President of the United States from creating executive orders without the express approval by Congress.
  20. Revise and strengthen the requirements for individuals to become citizens of this country.
  21. Build a wall or fence on the northern (US-Canadian) and southern (US-Mexican) borders and place strategic places where people wanting to enter through to either side to have to go through that entry point and show their passport.
  22. Allow Arizona and other states who have their own immigration laws patterned after the federal law to permit law enforcement officers to have the discretion to check the immigration status of anyone stopped for any reason.
  23. Pass a law that severely reduces the influence unions can have on communities and businesses, whether they are involved in with their own communities and businesses or across state lines.
  24. Pass a law that allows businesses to move or expand their work by building in a state that is free from union control.
  25. Provide more protection to churches via new laws that will prevent them from hostile attacks against those who feel their teachings are infringing on their rights.
