IHOP Has Free Pancakes for National Pancake Day 2010

IHOP is giving out free pancakes for National Pancake Day today, Tuesday February 23rd, 2010 from 7:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. At IHOP you can get a stack of three delicious buttermilk pancakes for free as part of National Pancake Day 2010! The IHOP National Pancake Day 2010 Celebration has taken place since 2006 when the annual event started. All that IHOP is recommending is that, if possible, you make a voluntary donation to the Children's Miracle Network in exchange for the free pancakes.

IHOP has raised over $3.25 million in this National Pancake Day celebration since it's inception. The National Pancake Day Celebration 2010 at IHOP will take place in all of the over 1,400 IHOP restaurants located throughout the United States.

IHOP has, over the last four years, held its National Pancake Day celebration on Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Tuesday, originates back centuries to when the English prepared for fasting during Lent. They could not eat any dairy products over Lent, so they would all their eggs, butter, milk and any other dairy products up prior to Lent and they would make pancakes.

But this year IHOP has decided that the free pancake day will be Tuesday, February 23rd which extends the fundraising window by a week for the Children's Miracle Network. In 2009 IHOP gave away over 3 million pancakes and raised nearly $1.5 million in support of Children's Miracle Network.

This year IHOP hopes that their National Pancake Day 2010 Celebration will be able to raise $1.75 million and allow them to hit their fund raising target of $5 million for the Children's Miracle Network. The Children's Miracle Network is an international nonprofit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children's hospitals. The Children's Miracle Network also has partners that conduct thousands of special events and fundraisers each year in to make sure that children's hospitals have the supplies and resources that they need to take care of the children.

At each IHOP you can also purchase Children's Miracle Network "Miracle Balloons" for $1 and $5 each along with any donation you make for National Pancake Day Celebration at IHOP.

At your local IHOP on National Pancake Day 2010 there will probably be a long line to get the free pancakes. Try to arrive early to avoid the longest waits. But just be patient and enjoy the time as you await your free IHOP pancakes.
