IKEA Detolf Glass Cabinet Product Review
Inexpensive Glass Cabinet is a Perfect Way to Display Your Favorite Collectibles
Such is the case with the Detolf glass door display cabinet. Anyone looking for a museum-quality cabinet for their collectibles have found the perfect display. At just over five and a half feet high and made of glass on all four sides, it gives an elegant look to any room. Featuring three glass shelves that hold about 13 pounds each, the cabinet can accommodate anything up to 14 inches high.
The cabinet is constructed with a particleboard top and bottom bolted together with pigmented steel support rods that are surprisingly strong. The door, side and back panels, and all the shelves are tempered safety glass. While the glass is very durable, care should be taken during assembly as well as placement of the cabinet once completed, to avoid chipping or breaks due to surrounding furniture. The cabinet must be assembled by two people: while putting it together, you will have to turn it over. To keep the stress off of the glass panels, two people must do it.
The cabinet is especially effective for those looking to display sports collectibles. The cabinet can easily hold a full size NFL helmet as well as items up to 14 inches high. It can also easily hold multiple basketballs and footballs. With four different display spaces inside the cabinet, you can easily devote one to each of the four major sports, if you wish.
The cabinet comes with a choice of black or beechwood tops or bottoms. There is also a space in the top panel to install an optional light kit, which in most cases isn't necessary with four glass walls and a properly lit room. Total dimensions of an assembled cabinet are 17 inches wide, 15 inches deep, and 64 inches high.
For anyone looking for something to display their collectibles in their man cave, the Detolf cabinet is a high quality, low cost solution. It is available in all IKEA stores as well as online for home delivery. It retails for $59.99.

Post a CommentI got this case on sale at IKEA last year for under $30. Great case if, like me, you're an amature collector and don't want to spend a fortune on other expensive glass cases.
Ikea's a little too modern for me, but good review!
Good job done here.
