Illegal Immigration in America

What Should Be Done About Illegal Immigration in America

Mr. B
Illegal immigration is one of the most important issues that face all Americans.

Immigration is one of the most heated topics up for debate now. Should illegal immigrants be allowed in the United States? What should be done about the illegal immigrants in the United States already? Should illegal immigrants already here in the United States be given citizenship? Do we as Americans need to tighten the borders so that illegal immigrants do not enter and take jobs that Americans want? Immigration to the United States should always be allowed because that is what has made our country so great.

Illegal immigrants that have come to the United States have taken the jobs that most Americans would hate to do. I also know that if we were to make the border more secure that some people would not have a chance to start a new life in the United States.

The truth of this is that you do not need to sneak across the boarder to get into the United States. Every year the United States is letting more and more immigrants into the United States. In 2005 1,122,373 immigrants were allowed into the country.(David Stuckey, H3)

Immigrants have almost every right that any citizen in the United States has but illegal immigrants have no right to be living in the United States. Why should illegal immigrants be allowed into the United States and take the jobs of those who came to the United States and worked hard to get their citizenship. Illegal immigrants are hurting everyone whether they realize it or not. "Illegal immigrant's first act in this country was to break the law." (Ian de Silva, 2) By coming into the United States illegally they are already breaking a law and should not be allowed into the United States unless they do it legally and properly.

If you haven't been watching the news lately or have been locked in a closet there has been a rise of protests all over the United States over immigration. Why all of a sudden is there a sudden rise of protests over immigration? The sudden rise in protests is because of the bill "Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005," that the House of Representatives passed last December. If this passes through the Senate and is approved by the President it would create a seven hundred mile fence between the United States and Mexico boarder. The bill would also let local police arrest illegal immigrants and make it a felony to be in the United States illegally. (Ian de Silva, 1) I support this bill one hundred and ten percent because illegal immigrants are hurting every American.

In 1986 politicians and pro-amnesty groups tricked the public into believing that there were only about three hundred thousand illegal immigrants in the United States. After Amnesty was passed instead of there only being three hundred illegal immigrants getting green cards the number of illegal immigrants rised to over three million immigrants. (Ian de Silva, 2) I oppose amnesty because illegal immigrants do not deserve to get green cards so easily when thousands of immigrants before them came to the United States legally and worked hard for their green card. I also do not believe that all the illegal immigrants found in the United States should be deported because it would cost too much of the publics money and would be almost impossible. All illegal immigrants should be able to get there green cards but they should have to wait behind the people who did it the legal way.

Some might say that immigrants have helped our economy and Americans all over the United States by doing jobs that no other Americans wanted to perform. Well then if illegal immigrants do all the jobs that Americans do not want to perform then "who did these jobs before the illegal aliens came?" (Ian de Silva, 1) The answer to this question is very simple. It was the legal immigrants who came over to the United States. There are three major complaints and problems bring when immigrants come into our country illegally. First of all illegal immigrants are lowering the wages of the workers that came to the United States legally causing them to lose there jobs or have to work for very small wages. Second of all illegal immigrants put a burden on legal immigrants by causing higher costs for health care, welfare payments, schooling, and this causes higher taxes. Third of all-concentrated immigration can arouse fears that the local culture will be overwhelmed. (Clive Crook, 1)

Illegal immigrants have and never will be accepted into the United States as Americans. I know that illegal immigrants are human but I do not believe they are American for if you want to be an American and you live in another country do it legally and you will become part of the biggest and strongest family in the world. America.

Clearly, a lot of people sleep trough history class. The common knowledge is that so called "Indians" were the indigenous people of America. How can anyone say with a straight face that people of Spanish decent owned this land. Seems very arrogant and self serving. Denica, please read a book, stop being scared and running away from your problems. If America can become a great country, so can all the countries where the illegals came from. Its always easier to put your problems onto someone else than deal with them yourself. Seems childish doesn't it.

I couldn't have expressed it better myself! Excellent paper, Mr. B!

I don't agree, it's not their fault you didn't use the opportunities given to you. I believe if they are here to make a better life for themselves and their familiy, who are we to tell them to leave. Especially since this was their land first.

I agree, illegal aliens only hurt our country and they must be deported. Think of how many jobs that would open up to unemployed citizens!

There should be no excuses why illegal immigrants come to America, i understand them being poor and their needs of employ-
ment to take care of their families, i also understand millions of poor and middle class American people especially the American blacks, who also want and need employment to take care of their families, so why are millions poor illegal immigrant employed in America, while millions of American citizens are unemployed in their own country???

This goes to show you that there are no law being enforced in America, no real con-
cerns of the American citizens, illegal immigrants are in the way of the poor American citizens to progress in America, they are all about themselves, all their greed, boldness, rudeness, nasty aggressiveness, has push poor and middle class American citizen in the back of the lines to many things that in reality belongs to them the poor American citizens. They are running American on their illegal statuses, of course with help of all their stu
