Illegal Immigration: Write Your Congressman and Let Your Voice Be Heard

Jessielem

A touchy subject continues to sweep across the nation of America as the number of "illegal" immigrants continues to rise. There are an estimated 11.5 to 12 million illegal immigrants according to the Population Census Bureau and some say the number is underestimated. Whether it's from personal experience, from the trials and tribulations of someone else, or from the views of the media, we all have our opinions on this heated issue. Right or wrong, good or bad, we are all creatures that have our own opinions and thoughts...and crave to express them. I pose this question to you: How are you going to channel them to benefit you and your family?

One suggestion would be to write your Congressman. Don't worry about being an elequoent speaker or writer, just tell him what's going on in your head and the experiences around you. A little advice, though, don't make this a race issue if you are against this activity as it's not about that and shouldn't be anyway. Keep your letters simple and based on things you've experienced or someone that you know has. Researchimmigration laws and the companies that hire them. Make sure you know your facts. You're congressman is supposed to consider what the people want, so make sure you are being heard.

If you don't like the decisions your leaders are making or if you do and you want them to stay in office, show up and vote on election day for the person you think deserves that seat in the senate. Before you cast your ballot, research the people and their beliefs and know how they will affect the life of you and your family. Make sure you really understand what they will do when they are elected and if it's what you want for this country in which you live.

Get involved in groups that feel the way you do, but talk to people who think differently and listen to their viewpoints. Have intelligent debates and research facts. Always be questionable of statements given to you and do research through the internet, books, radio and television. Make sure you look at the backgrounds of the people providing the information, and keep in mind, one man's fact could be another man's opinion. At least, that's what I have found out to be the truth on many things. Through your talks and research, youmight be able to get others to change their views and vice versa. The more votes on your side, the better, right?

Remember, the only person who is going to look out for number one, is you. Unfortunately, we have to rely on other people to stand up for us like our congressmen, so my advice to you is make sure that you are heard.

We are sick to death of the expenses for illegals in our country.
They have broken our laws, and the laws should be changed from a
misdemeanor to a felony. Why should anyone be allowed in our
country without extreme penalty? Nothing should be done for them
or the "private" prison system. Dance instruction? Bingo? E-mail access?
Does this apply to all the Muslims picked up? Why are our legislators taking
this? Who has stock in Corrections Corp. of America? We need answers
    for all of this nonsense.

Why and how can this country continue to spend $338.3 billion a year on illegal aliens in this country? Welfare spent by states $11 - $22 billion; Food assist. programs such as wic, food stamps, free school lunches for illegals, $2.2billion. $2.5 billion on medicaid for illegals; $12 billion on primary and secondary school education and they can't speak English. $17 billion for children of illegals known as anchor babies; 30% of all fed. prison inmates are illegal's. $90 billion spent on illegals for welfare and social services; $200 billion a yr. on suppressed American wages, caused by illegals. Crime rate for illega's are 2 1/2 times greater than rest of citizens..on and on..

The dark side of this is nearly one million sex crimes are committed by illegals; My question: are we this stupid? Is congress so blind to let this keep happening? All we get is hot air rhetoric and very little action; including fromt he white house. Sure no more corp. jet travel, said the Pres and the next

Illegal immigration is destroying our economy. I work in a community where allot of illegal immigrants receive allot of government help because they have 5 or more children. The family usually lives in a house with 10 people because they rent rooms, and they also work and not pay taxes. As for a legal USA citizen that struggles in life by working to pay rent, pay taxes and feed their children the government doesn't provide any financial assistance because they have a job. If President I strongly believe that President Obama shouldn't allow illegal immigration, it's destroying our nation.

I can NO LONGER support the people who are here illegally. They need to go home and go through legal channels. No more free education, health care or food. I can hardly meet my own obligations I can't pay for illegals anymore! If the employer wants to hire low wage workers then they should foot the TOTAL bill for the worker and thier entire family. We need to check status EVERYTIME and send them home. I can't understand AT ALL why we would make it impossible to check status..and what is this about drivers license??? NO NO NO.....if we know you are here illegally you should be sent back.

I believe back in 2005 congress signed into law an emergency bill for the military tsunami relief bill.
This act was to set mininum federal standards for stat drivers license and other official identication and requires states to issue drivers licenses people with photo ID, a birth certification with proof of Social Security number and residence.Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has stated earlier that this law was workable. I am getting highly tired of these over paid JACK ASSES not running the goverment as I and everyone else pay them to do. Keep the good work up.

I am in dismay over the fact that we are putting up a wall to keep them out, yet allowing the ones that are here to be able to stay. I beleive that the government is sending a mixed signal, because all it is telling them is "Come on over, we wont send you back." I beleive that they all need to go back, unless they are here on a green card, and that green card is VALID ! We made those rules for a reason, did we not? And if our government can not even enforce those laws, what are we saying? They have found our weakness, and they are playing and acting upon it! The president wants to talk about how they are helping our economy, well I beg to differ as does Jordan in FL. He couldnt be more right ! If the government were actually out among these people they would see how the money the earn is exactly as said, sent back home!! That is why it takes 10 or 12 of them to live together and be able to pay rent. Becuase they ARE taking these low wage jobs, but not to benefit the American people, bu

I'm so happy I spent $50,000 to become a teacher and now I can't even get a job because I don't speak spanish. Even if I did, why would I enter into a career that pays merely $30,000 a year. Meanwhile, Sw Florida is booming with 7 to 10 dollar an hour jobs. If the illegals were gone, the rich people that profit from them would just have to proifit a little less. I keep hearing that illegals work jobs that Americans simply won't do. I say they work jobs that Americans won't do for slave wages! We can't afford to live on $6hr while typical rent here is $1500.00 a month. I currently earn about $60,000 a year serving retired millionaires on a resort island. The entire kitchen staff is from El Salvador and illegal. They send every nickel back home to their country without paying any taxes. Its all "under the table". In addition, they bankrupt our hospitals, social service programs, etc, and still pay no taxes on their earnings. How is this helping America? Its not! It's helping business own

I too feel this is a dangerous activity for the American citizens. We do have an addiction to the low wage workers, but it's risky and we have to "clean up" our act. The impacts are too numerous to mention all (SSI, Health/Med, Insur, etc). Our borders need to be enforced, the employers need to be accountable - it's insane. Eject - no amnesty - we might need to fight.
